Amorino is a great place to take a break from exploring the area around Porto University. It is very close to a lot of other classic Porto sites such as Igreja do Carmo and Livraria Lello. As such, the line for this store can be long. Upfront, the gelato can be quite pricey compared to a lot of other Gelato shops around such as Gelataria Sincelo. This seems to not deter people away from the shop that serves delicious gelato.

We ordered a medium cone with 3 flavours: pistachio, raspberry and mango. I tend to not order pistachio gelato as it is not one of my favourites but Amorino does this flavour very well. It was creamy and the pistachio flavour was well pronounced. The raspberry was tart and the sweet mango was a nice finish. The three flavours were scooped and styled into a rose. If you're feeling extra, you can even add a macaron on top (I say that the gelato is sufficient).

Overall, great place for delicious gelato but be prepared for a wait and...

Overall: 5/5

Cost: 4/5 a little expensive when compared to Porto’s other gelato spots, however the portion size makes up for it. We asked the server how many flavors we can have in a small and she responded with as many as you like. We got three and the portion makes up for the size.

Environment: 5/5 great little spot near some of the busiest spots of downtown Porto. A few homeless people did ask for patrons for money, but they generally leave you alone. The same server allowed us to try some of their complex flavors and was very friendly and accommodating trying to try some we weren’t used to.

Taste: 5/5 there are the standard gelatos which are very flavorful and deep in flavor; some of the darkest gelato coffee I’ve ever had and would recommend. There is also fruity ā€œgelatoā€ with some very interesting flavors. Would recommend...

The server mindlessly handled my cone right before my eyes with every finger he had on his hand. He literally spun it in his hand touching every surface of the top of the cone multiple times with every finger. Unsanitary & unprofessional!! Not to mention that when we first walked over to be served, the first guy seemed to absently start to help us then had a friend pop around the corner from outside & abruptly left leaving the cash register guy to fill our cones a bit later after we stood there waiting. Later on I got a sore throat & can’t help but wonder if it’s bc this fool has no mind abt touching ppls food. I shouldn’t have eaten it & asked for a different cone. I try to be careful w germs bc it’s no fun getting sick on vacation plus I’m...

Interesting concept of a flower. I love the Pear and Hibiscus flavour. Plenty of seats available. Best part is for a Classico size flower you can pick 4-5 flavours. You get to taste more flavours that way. The flower one requires fast eating as it’ll melt and drip away. So for those who want to slowly savour most likely to better go with cup. Knocked off a star as the cafe is understaffed, too busy in sculpting the flowers that they don’t have time to clean up the floor area and toilets are in poor condition. But most people buy and takeaway so not a big deal. Picture feature flower in Classico size as well as cup in Grande.
