Bufete S. Domingos, Lda. — Restaurant in Porto

Sat here just to enjoy an evening with family before returning home. Had some great live music on the street by the restaurant. Food was fine and we each had a few drinks. It was a fun time. When we went to pay they wouldn’t accept my brother in laws cash because “the bill was damaged and appeared fake”. While he questioned if they were being serious I paid the bill and said thank you. At that time one of the staff told my BIL that they don’t do things in Portugal like they do in his country (he’s Portuguese). Within 60 seconds three more staff came in and threatened to call the police on us if we didn’t leave immediately. As we walked out the door, a woman who worked there literally started grabbing my back trying to get through me to get to my BIL. She had to be physically picked up by one of the other staff to get her away from us. They continued to yell at the 5 of us as we walked out of the street dining area. I never said a word to them other than thank you and I was berated, threatened with the police, and had one of the staff try to physically go through me to fight someone. This was the worst service I experienced in at least 10 years. It took 10-15 minutes for the energy-lacking waiter to come and grudgingly take our order. Then we waited another 50 minutes to receive two plates of food!

I had to resort to eating a granola bar from my day pack while we waited. Then while we were eating the dishes (finally), a chair crashed into mine mid-bite. It startled me and I almost choked. A waitress had knocked over someone’s chair into mine, causing another customer's purse to tumble onto the ground. It was an accident, I guess. But the waitress didn't even apologize.

Finally, when it was time to pay, we learned that the restaurant did not accept credit cards. When my girlfriend suggested to the waiter that it would be nice if they mention that to customers before they order, he replied it was “her fault“ for not asking beforehand.

He was so rude about it that my girlfriend asked for the complaint book. Of course, he refused.

To be fair, the grilled squid wasn't terrible. Of course, after waiting for so long, anything would have tasted alright.

Avoid this restaurant...

It was the weirdest restaurant. First, the waitress was seemingly overwhelmed and confused by simple questions - we wanted to order springrolls as a side dish, which she didn’t really understand. In the end she gave us one tiny springroll. The rest of the food was just a very random composition and mostly not cooked enough. They put fries on top of my lasagna and a cucumber slice. Very random :D My friend ordered a hamburger and got two fried patties without the rest of the burger. The inside of the restaurant was very dirty and not comfortable. For what we got, it was absolutely overpriced. When we wanted to pay we had to put the money in a Maschine and we were told we couldn’t split the money to pay separately. The waiter was passive aggressive and was ignoring us when we asked him if he can change our money so we can split it ourselves. The only good thing was the amount of wine that I received for pretty cheap. Cause being a bit drunk made it easier to cope with the restaurant ;-) I had to be a real Karen now writing this.
