Not worth your time or money. 100% recommend to dine elsewhere!

The host that greeted us was friendly when we first entered the bar area, but then seated us at the table inches away from the door where there was no overhead light and made us feel as though we were eating blindly. The table was also half-separated by the wall from the other tables and was the furthest away from the open concept kitchen. It felt as though the entire staff were purposely snubbing us the entirety of our dinner.

As soon as we sat down, we asked for some sparkling water, to which the waiter proceeded to serve us still water. Not a big deal, so we flagged them down and asked for the water we ordered, but it took so long for anybody to notice our table and change the waters out. This slow manner of service continued with the drink menu, where we had to wait at least 15-20 minutes to even get a drink order in and receive the food menu. The service that we received the whole night was so torturously slow that the whole table was exhausted and ready to go to bed by the time we were waiting on the mains. Also, while waiting for our food, I spilled my drink due to their bad table coasters, but no waiter ever stopped by to ask if we needed anything or to check up on us. In fact, none of the staff ever asked us how the food was or ever stopped by to see how our dinner was going. We even saw two waiters sneaking looks at our table and speaking in Portuguese, assuming that we couldn’t understand the language. This made my family feel so disrespected and ignored throughout our dinner.

The food itself was just fine, but nothing that warranted the steep prices or the extensive waiting times. The main dishes leaned too salty for our tastes, and the side salad with edible flowers seemed to be seasoned solely with just soy sauce, with a lack of any other nuanced flavors in the dressing.

At the end of our dinner, when the waitress asked how everything was, clearly expecting a good response, I was honest when I replied that the service was lackluster and that it wasn’t very good. She looked very visibly taken aback and ended up sending two small dessert bites to our table. She didn’t have to do so, especially since the desserts were not very good at all and didn’t make up for the fact that we got a very mediocre dinner for a ridiculous price and came out of the restaurant tired and in need of an early night.

If you’re looking to throw away some money for bad service and uninspired food, go ahead and get yourself a table here! If not, then go to literally any other restaurant in Porto where you can get better service and food for half...

Cozinha das Flores was truly one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Porto!

The restaurant was fully booked for dinner two weeks in advance, so we opted for lunch — and what a fantastic choice it turned out to be. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was flawless. We were greeted, attended to, and served with a level of care and professionalism that is rare to find. Every question was answered with genuine interest, not rehearsed or rushed, and the team struck the perfect balance between being friendly and giving us space — nothing like the forced conversations you sometimes experience in touristy spots.

The open kitchen concept at Cozinha das Flores is, without a doubt, the best I have ever experienced. You can tell how much thought and care went into every detail: from the stylish furniture and elegant cutlery to the beautiful marble countertops and the smart layout. I especially appreciated that they didn’t add counter seating, which would have crammed the space and blocked the beautiful, open view into the kitchen. Watching the chefs work in such a calm, organized, and aesthetically stunning environment truly elevated the entire dining experience.

The restaurant sits on a bustling street where lively crowds and street musicians create a constant buzz — yet once you step inside the dining room, all of that fades away. It’s surprisingly quiet and serene, offering a perfect escape from the vibrant energy outside and allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the food and atmosphere.

Their wine list is impressively extensive, with a strong focus on Portuguese wines alongside a few renowned international labels. Honestly, just embrace the local wines — the quality-to-price ratio in Portugal is simply unbeatable!

And the food? Every single dish we tried was outstanding. We regretted having had a late breakfast, as it limited us to only one main dish (the incredible capellini), but every snack and starter we ordered was a hit. I had the best beef tongue of my life — melt-in-your-mouth perfection. It’s rare for a dish to lodge itself so clearly into my taste memory; I could happily eat it every week for the rest of my life!

To top it all off, we had a wonderful surprise: one of the chefs, Ege, turned out to be Turkish like us, and suddenly served our mains while chatting warmly in our native language. Wishing you all the best, Ege — it was a real pleasure!

All in all, Cozinha das Flores is simply a perfect...

Booked this place for my wife’s birthday judging the reviews and photos taken plus the overpriced menu. Was expecting at least good service but was met with bad service and them taking away our dishes extremely quickly (before we finished our dishes) like they were in a rush (considering there was only like 3 tables including us).

The food was appalling. Way too expensive for what you get (not a first time at a fine dining restaurant but this is by far the worst “fine-dining” restaurant we had ever been to if we can even call it that). The food flavours were so bad that we had sent back their signature dish, it was so salty and overly sour (For €90 small lobster rice of that size, I would expect it to be a refined flavour for that price but got a horrid dish that we had 2 bites from). Had the dish replaced but got a mediocre filet of a fish that was smaller than a child’s hand for €30 and a pork shoulder that also tasted worse than the lobster for €30. The only good dish we had was the nata with caviar but was the dish was carried by the caviar as opposed to the nata which we could get a small tin for that price.

For the food quality I could do a better job cooking at home for 10% of the price and I don’t even cook. The food tasted like food from a person that just got out of high school and it was their first time following a recipe (if they even know how to follow a recipe) or they bought take away and put it on a plate and tried to add more flavour to make it sophisticated but turned out bad.

The drinks were also flavourless considering we ordered two easy to make cocktails which is universally available and easy to make.

All in all my wife’s birthday dinner was completely ruined and they even had the guts to ask for a tip and even asked how the food was (they were hoping for a compliment) considering we have sent back a number of dishes and have been quite vocal about the flavours.

I would avoid this restaurant at all cost! Complete tourist trap. My benefit of the doubt would be that the head chef was away and only the junior chefs were working as the chefs in the kitchen did look a bit young but it doesn’t excuse the fact that we are paying premium prices for well below...

Wow! What an amazing surprise. We booked here on nothing more than a hope, knowing almost nothing about the restaurant, and it turned out to be a singular experience. Each course was filled with creative and unique interpretations of traditional Portuguese dishes. We started with the house bread and fermented butter, followed by the spider crab donuts, turnip tarts with caviar and beef tartare. Each course better than the one before. The crab donut was unusual. It was sweeter than expected but somehow this worked with the crab to produce a tasty fusion of flavors. The turnip tart was rich, almost potato like with a salty bite of the caviar on top while the tartare was a bite of herbaceous refreshment that cleansed the palate. The uncontested star of the meal was the grilled lobster tail in chorizo broth with rice. This dish, finished and served table side, was like nothing any of us had seen before. It consisted of a beautiful lobster tail swimming in a pool of smoky, pimenton infused broth and heirloom rice. Like many of the dishes here, the lobster was cooked over wood fire in the open kitchen. The aroma of smoke infused the dish with a woody perfume that elevated its complexity. This was something special. We finished dinner with the seared pork belly and cabbage farce. Maybe because it followed that divine lobster it didn't have the same lingering effect. The farce seemed extraneous and it might have benefitted from a simpler presentation. It was still very good though. For dessert we had the milk six ways. Once again an unexpected twist on a traditional dish. This took milk and transformed it into a kind of crepe using the milk skin folded around a luscious filling. To be honest we were skeptical but the waiter talked us into it. We were not disappointed. It was marvelous. Service was very good and it was a treat to see the kitchen staff at work in the beautifully appointed dining area. The suggested wines were tasty and worked well with our assortment of dishes. Don't you just love it when things work out unexpectedly well?
