Avoid this place!!!! Horribly rude old man, supposedly the owner. Only 1 table was occupied at 9pm on a Saturday, that should have been our first sign. We ordered 1 francesinha with fries and 2 drinks as we weren’t very hungry but wanted to try a francesinha while in town. The old man then got very upset. He didn’t appear to speak English but conveyed his frustration clearly with exacerbated sighs, continually repeated “oh my god”, and rolling his eyes. He then flips to the English page of the menu and points to the top of the menu that says “we serve one meal per person”. I told nicely him we just want 1, and he proceeded to pick up one of the paper mats and the silverware so that there was only one left on the table. He then tried to confirm our order, but at this point we could tell this was not someone whose business we were interested in supporting, and not the atmosphere we wanted, and left. DO NOT recommend coming here unless you want to be treated rudely and with...
Read moreI watched a video about the francesinha at this restaurant and decided to visit to try it. The dining area is small, but there was only one occupied table when we arrived. My girlfriend and I decided to order one full francesinha with fries to share, as we’ve found in other places that a single portion is usually too much for one person. When we placed our order, the waiter called out to the kitchen, ordering two francesinhas. I immediately clarified that we only wanted one to share, to which he responded, "Then this is not the place for you to eat francesinha," while pointing to a notice on the menu stating that they only serve individual dishes per person. We left the restaurant, as we find it highly disrespectful to force customers to order more than they actually want to eat. A place that values good service should allow customers to share a meal if...
Read moreCraque. The service is so friendly and the Francesinha is brilliant. Especially when my plate was refilled with the hot sauce! Very memorable meal.
It seems negative reviews complain about the communication (really seemed fine to me) or card payment (unfortunately quite normal in Porto).
For reviews complaining you wanted to share 1 plate - the restaurant seems reasonable about this, 1 plate/meal each because this is a small and popular place. If 2 or 3 people share 1 francesinha that's barely 3 Euros per seat, which instead they could offer their care and service to someone else who wants to eat a plate. It seems unfair to negatively mark a small popular...
