I discovered this place thinking it would just be another tourist spot, since it seems to be part of a chain. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they maintain a very high pastry quality. I can honestly say it was the best pastel de nata I have ever had, or at least the best in recent years. At €1.40 per pastry, the price is more than fair, and I would definitely go back.
The staff work at a very fast pace, so they don't always have time to greet you with a big smile, but I truly appreciate how focused they are on their work and on providing efficient, professional service.
Also, the boxes they provide for carrying the pastries are excellent: we bought eight and had to travel back the same day, through drastic temperature changes, and they held up perfectly. A detail that shows the level of care they put into everything.
All in all, a place I would...
Read moreOne comes here for pastel de nata fresh out of the oven. The pastry is nice and crispy. The Portuguese tart here is one of the best. Our preference to take some back was to buy from here (but if we were in Lisbon this would have been our second favourite). You can add cinnamon on top.
The tarts are made in front of you. So, you can see people hard at work and the constant production of Portuguese tarts.
You can get espresso, ginjinha or Porto wine to drink.
There was a queue around 4.20pm on a Wednesday. However, it did move quite quickly.
Limited space to have your tarts in the store. There's no seating just ledges to put stuff on the side. So, don't expect to hang about and leisurely enjoy your tarts inside.
Paid €7,80 for a pack of 6 natas.

Read moreManteigaria was the first place we tried coffee in Porto and it made a great impression. The pastel de nata was warm, fresh, and made right on the spot. It was a bit sweet for my taste but still delicious. We also ordered a filtered-style coffee which was smooth and full of flavor. A nice surprise in a place known mainly for pastries.
The location is very central and our Airbnb was nearby, which made it a convenient stop. There isn't much outdoor seating but there is plenty of space inside to enjoy your coffee and pastry comfortably.
If you're visiting and prefer not to carry cash, I highly recommend using the WISE app/card. It worked perfectly here and at many other spots in Porto. A great place for a quick coffee and sweet treat while...
