A sad feeling for a place that used to be a reference for Italian food in town
Primo amore used to be one of the best places for pizza and Italian food in general back in the days. Every person asking about good Italian food in the expats forums and Italian forums in Bratislava were listing the place as one of the restaurants to go to try authentic good Italian food. Sadly things have changed…
The place: the restaurant is obviously in disarray. Wine boxes piled around as if the place was a deposit, boxes of electronics thrown around. Nobody seems to care at maintaining the place tidy and nice for customers. I believe the restaurant moved a couple of years ago from their old venue a few meters away to this new glass and steel building in the middle of the square. It is a pity. While less practical, the old venue had a style, an atmosphere that the new one lacks completely. Place was almost empty at 20:00 and felt sad and cold. Not a place where you feel like hanging out with friends or have a nice couple dinner.
The service: service was really good and friendly. Also quite fast (ok, the place was almost empty).
The food: while not bad, the food seem to have lost a lot since last time I was there (in the old venue). You can feel that ingredients are still good, but pizza has changed and not for the best. Again, not bad, but honestly unimpressive. It is true that along last few years competition has become tougher and options have increased, but I was hoping for much more from a place I used to love.
The price: price is the strong point of the place. You can have a pizza and a drink or a plate of pasta for less then 12 euro. One of the cheapest options in town. Considering the overall quality, it allows the restaurant to raise score a bit.
Overall the restaurant used to be much better in my opine when in the old venue. Now it is a place without real soul managed in an apparent careless way. I don’t believe I will be back despite the...
Read moreWe visit this pizza place quite regularly and I have to say service was never strenght of Primo Amore. Today they totally killed it. We needed to wait for very long time even though the restaurant was half empty. We experienced very unpleasend surprise when one dish out of 6 was completely forgotten after 40 mins waiting. I needed to go and ask about it, the waiter told me they are starting preparing it imediately. When the dish finally came all of my friends were already finished and I felt very uncomfortable they needed to wait for me eating alone. I asked the waitress about the situation when paying and she went to call the owner. His response was he started yelling on all of us and offended me and my friends. He came back from the kitchen and againg yelled at us while trying to pay and leave asap. All other customers sitting around were horrified, staring on this unpleasant show. The owner never said sorry or showed understanding for our complaint. I totally understand mistakes happen all the time. The reaction of the owner however was totally inappropriate and I will never visit...
Read moreVery bad experience. Waited 1 hour and left without food on Sunday evening aroudn 7pm.
Restaurant was half full.
1st waiting time for about 15 minutes was to get the menu list 2nd waiting time around 20 minutes to get the waiter to come to our table so we can order. (Oder was written on his paper) 3rd waiting time around 15 minutes when different waiter came to check with us what we have ordered (not mentioning that we were not served with drinks yet) After that about 5 minutes later previou waiter came back with question what are we missing? We though he is making a joke because we did not get any food or drink. He took out paper and pen again and wanted us to repeat the order what we want to have.
That was the breaking point where we stood up and left the restaurant.
We were not the only table that did it and many people we very upset.
Dear manager - give a clear guidance to your staff. This is not the how Italian restaurant...
