A Purr-fect Pause: My Godabang Hongdae Adventure
We're in Hongdae, Seoul, fresh off a serious bout of window shopping. My wallet is still intact, and I'm buzzing with that post-shopping high. Our next mission? A cat cafe! We had our hearts set on a specific place, but unfortunately, it was closed. Cue a minor meltdown (okay, maybe a major one for a second), quickly followed by a triumphant "Let's find another one!"
Luckily, Seoul boasts tons of amazing cat cafes, and we weren't about to let a closed door ruin our furry fun. We stumbled upon a gem â Godabang Hongdae â a spacious haven for both caffeine addicts and cat lovers. The best part? Entry was free! All we had to do was buy a drink â a small price to pay for an hour of pure feline bliss.
Before we could unleash our inner crazy cat ladies, though, there was a bit of pre-game prep. Sanitizing our hands was a must (hygiene is key!), and then came the slightly less glamorous task of ditching our shoes. But hey, who needs shoes when you're about to cuddle with a bunch of adorable fluffballs?
Once inside, we found a comfy spot and ordered drinks. I have to say, the beverages were surprisingly delicious â a welcome treat after all that shopping. Godabang Hongdae itself was surprisingly spacious, considering the popularity of cat cafes in Seoul. The crowd was small, which meant plenty of kitty cuddles to go around.
And then, the main event: the cats! Oh my goodness, the cats! There were cats of all shapes, sizes, and personalities. Some were sprawled out in sunbeams, completely unbothered by our presence. Others were zooming around, batting at toys, and generally being adorable little chaos agents.
I spent a good hour getting lost in a sea of purrs and soft fur. Some cats were happy to snuggle up and receive endless head scratches, while others preferred to observe from a distance. I even managed to get a few playful swats from a particularly energetic kitten â it was all in good fun, of course! The atmosphere was so relaxed and peaceful that I almost fell asleep myself! It was the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of Hongdae.
After an hour of feline-induced relaxation, it was time to say goodbye to our new furry friends. Leaving Godabang Hongdae, I felt completely refreshed and recharged. It was the perfect break from our shopping spree, a chance to connect with some incredibly cute creatures, and a reminder that sometimes, the best things in life are simple â a warm drink, a soft cat, and a moment of peace.

Read moreI came here coincidentally on a rainy day and these cats were so friendly! They would move around freely and come around for treats. It was overall so nice to see cats just doing their own thing and letting people pet them. Two of them sat on my lap and I didn't want to leave. It's a great cafe for introverts and cat lovers. I personally enjoyed it very much, theres a bit of a smell but it wasn't as strong as some reviews said and it wasn't bothersome. The cats are well fed and taken care of they seem very comfortable and the owner is so very friendly. Some of the cats seemed to feel uncomfortable getting pictures taken of so I would really recommend keeping the cats boundaries. Great for tourists in Hongdae. Genuinely enjoyed it and would love to come again. (they only have drinks which wasn't a problem to me and the cats do have allergies and maybe medical conditions but they seem very well taken care of and the owner knows what he's doing and treats the cats very lovingly) (I also think the cats were rescued but they aren't in any danger from what I saw, after warming up to them in ways that they're comfortable the cats slowly trust you and if you're lucky you might be able to pet their belly.) I truly recommend going, the price isn't too expensive either. They were so cute and the owner came around and actually explained some of the cats roles in the little community they had and what their likes and dislikes are. As long as you respect the cats and the place enjoying this hidden gem...
Read moreloved it here ! 9000w for adults and 8000w for students with id ! you can choose a drink too which is included with the admission fee, you can also purchase cat snacks to feed them:) i didnât see anything about a specific time limit so iâm not sure if there is one ? it smells a little bit when you first walk in but idk i feel like thats something you should expect when entering a space that is home to many animals so i didnât mind. the owner was very nice even though i donât speak korean well :)đhe seems to care a lot for the cats and they seem to be happy some of them were energetic while some were calmer, a couple seemed to have slightly crusty eyes, but given how much the owner seemed to care i think itâs possible that they maybe just have some health issues that are being cared for since i think they are all strays. plenty of space to sit and has a bathroom free wifi and slippers for you to wear while in the cat area. the cats have plenty of space and food and are all very...
