One Star ⭐ | Extremely Disappointed – Food Poisoning Incident

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience after dining at The Backyard Lounge Fanabe. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a relaxing evening turned into a nightmare.

We visited the restaurant yesterday 25/09/2025 and both ordered the chicken wrap. Within a few hours, we began experiencing severe stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting — classic symptoms of food poisoning. After ruling out all other possibilities, it’s clear that the meal we had here was the cause.

While the ambiance was nice and the staff were friendly at the time, none of that matters when your health is compromised. I was tempted to contact the restaurant to inform them and express my concerns, but we’re on a flight back home this morning and we really don’t have any energy for it.

Food safety should be a top priority for any establishment serving the public. I sincerely hope management takes this seriously and investigates their food handling practices. No one should have to go through what I did after a simple dinner out.

The staff that attended us are simply thieves . We asked for a glass of wine they charged us for two , the glass of wine that appear was not even a proper serving but a sip of the cheapest wine you could have , I was charged 14 euros .when asked the staff to rectify the bill it was No apology and no refund of our money, until I insisted several times. They take advantage of foreigners that dont look at the bill and pay only to put the money in their pockets. I would say this is the most relaxing cocktail bar i have ever been in. The atmosphere and the staff all lend to a fantastic laid back enjoyment we had a couple of cocktails here and I have to say they were so excellently made that it was hard for us to leave but we will definitely be back. Manuel was gracious, attentive and very friendly and the 2 guys making cocktails were the best I have seen they obviously enjoy their work and make the best cocktails I have ever had.
