Good food, good beer, friendly staff and efficient service.
There are some unusual reviews for this off the beach cafe / bar / restaurant. 1 person only comes here because their favourite performer performs here during winter. 1 person will never visit again because they prefer another establishment which happens to be only a few minutes walk away and thinks the staff are the worst possible employees of a customer focused business. Another reviewer is disguted with how long the staff take to deliver the bill.
I'm not here to say if those reviews are accurate, but common sense tells you when the competition has left a bad review or someone is advertising themselfs for free on someone elses listing.
I am here to tell you of my and my beautiful partner's, experience of the Drop Inn (yup, fellow reviewers. it helps if you use the correct name of the place you're reviewing. People might suspect you've never been there if you don't seem to know the name of the place.)
There are comments about staff being rude and taking forever. The 1st staff member i dealt with initially seemed abrupt. I suspect he was preoccupied with something right at that moment because later he was laughing and joking with us. He also brought our bill.. in less than 2 minutes after us asking for it, but I digress.
Situated on an intesection just above the beach, opposite some kind of kids entertainmentment thing, (monkeysomething) the Drop Inn has oudoor and indoor dining areas. The IS an entertainment area indoors, contrary to certain reviews. Plus, depending on your personal viewpoint of live football on big screen TVs, theres entertainment (? uhmm. neandertals chasing leather balls) inside and out. (mufc lost 2, 0 to some other team while i ate a pleasent snack. shame.)
Both our meals were freshly made, well presented and delicious. I choose lager with my snack and was given a brand ive not drank before but fully intend to drink again, lol.
The place isn't sandwiched between other eateries and is clean and apparently free from cockroaches.. always a plus in my opinion).
Someone made a comment in thier review that the price of the beer is slightly excessive. Possibly true, but unlike in many nearby establishments I got 2 FULL pints of quality lager (it was a VERY hot day!). This is Teneriffe. Cheap, slightly below par, variants of beer you expect to be served in English pub are handed out willynilly to anyone with a euro to part with. Some such places are cheerful enough to point out that thier beer isn't the best, but most claim theirs is 100% the best on the island. The Drop Inn makes no such claims ever way, and serves a very refreshing quality pint.
"Good food, good beer, friendly staff and efficient service".
That one sentence sums up our entire experience of the Drop Inn. Could I have asked for more.. yeah, it could have been free. They could have brought our orders down to the beach (and swatted flies away from our meal while we ate) but in reality.. no. not really. You pay for what you get. We paid a fair price for...
Read moreFood, ate here twice, first time the chicken was more chewy than Wrigglys. Entertainment was 'Barry White' to be fair not a bad effort (although thinner and about 7 feet tall 'lol However the link man/singer thought it was trendy to use the F word regularly. But again, we are in Los Americas so perhaps that's the audience... no not really. The second night, the entertainment is MJ tributr Great dancer, obviously not singing 🙄. After the DJ / singer/ compere starts his second spot and having warned people that Tenerife is in tier 4 with no dancing, plays ...dance music. He warns everyone ' no dancing' and then sings another...dancing song.....surely he has the ability to sing a slow melodic song? No! He continues with dance music and then, cuts the music as the establishment is risking a fine. After a five minute break, he continues with, you have guessed it.... a dance song! Its not rocket science, you may have a set of songs, but when people can't dance , why keep playing boogie numbers? Food 50/50 Entertainment, acts great,...
Read moreSeriously, I rarely give bad reviews, but this one is well and truly earned! Having had a couple of decent breakfasts here we thought we'd risk an evening meal....BIG MISTAKE! We ordered the fillet steak deal which came with a bottle of house wine €36 for 2 people. The fillet steak tasted of cooking oil and the accompanying chips, baked potato and vegetables were actually COLD! We both tried our best to eat it without complaint, but 1/4 way through the meal had to give up and put our plates to one side. I explained to the waiters that the meal was cold ... our still virtually full plates were testament to this, but our complaints fell on deaf ears and we ultimately had to pay full price for 2 inedible meals ... I am currently sitting on our veranda eating Pringles to stave off the hunger......avoid for anything other than a...
