Very nice location with a light Irish theme with sea view, the menu looked inviting with some typical dishes such as Irish breakfast, Jacket potato, beef burger and more… nice everything except this one complaint I have: I simply asked if I could charge my phone, since I had just landed a few hours ago and my phone was dead, so I told him that I was waiting for a friend of mine who was also arriving from the airport and then we would have eaten together without any problem or at least that's what I thought and anyway at the beginning they let me do it…. let's get to the point that the youngest waitress with a surly manner and a demeanor not suited to her job, continued rudely to tell me that I had to order immediately otherwise I couldn't charge my phone and that I had to leave the place, I explained to her that I would order as soon as my friend arrived but with her usual surly attitude she told me that her boss was calling me by unplugging my cable and throwing it on the counter, in the meantime she laughs and jokes towards me with two girls sitting at a table in front of me, I think her friends, smart I would say... The boss arrives and without even letting me explain the situation, with even more rude ways than her subordinate, tells me that I had to leave or I had to pay to charge my phone yelling at me saying that no one would arrive and that I had to stay alone, embarrassing me in front of the whole place who was enjoying this stand up comedy consequently I decide to get up and leave. Eventually my friend who joined me after two minutes of me walking away from the place we decided to go to the Temple bar, with a more racy Irish theme and definitely nicer, where the waiters treated me the exact opposite of how the workers at the...
Read moreNot usually one to leave reviews, but this was called for. Arrived to The Shamrock to watch Manchester United match, with my partner. We sat in front of one of the TVs and ordered some drinks. A menu was placed Infront of us, which we declined to order food, but we would likely be ordering food at half time. We had decided to order food before the match as it had smelt devine. However, we where told we had to wait around 20/30 minutes to order as the kitchen was busy. No problem, as we would be watching the football. Our server had came back to take our order and all was good. However, a group of 8/10 Celtic fans had arrived at half time of the Man Utd game, and they asked for the Celtic game to be put on. Of course, the TV we were watching was the TV they had turned over to the other game. It was very clear to see which TV we were watching and who we were supporting, as we both had united tops on. We had felt this was ignorant and rude. When confronting the staff to cancel our food order and to let them know we will be leaving, the bar maid had become patronising and extremely rude, we paid for the drinks and quickly left. It was such a let down, as this was the bar I could not wait to try when coming to Tenerife for...
Read moreStill on my mission to explore Irish pubs serving Guinness, we recently visited The Shamrock hoping for a solid pint. Unfortunately, the experience was mixed. Arsenal was playing on the TV, which set a distracting tone. I ordered a regular pint for myself and a small one for my missies. The bartender poured the large pint incorrectly—straight into the glass and filled it past the harp logo. He did tho let it settle and topped it off after about 90 seconds, but the damage was done. The pint tasted decent, though I suspect it would’ve been better if Arsenal hadn’t been on and the pour had been proper. The small pint was worse—had a distinct soapy taste, clearly from a glass that had been washed with overly strong detergent. Overall, I’m giving The Shamrock a strong 3 out of 5. It was close to a 2, but the bartender was genuinely friendly, which bumped it up. What was missing? No Arsenal on the screen and better...
