We visited here while on holiday last week due to good reviews and menu. On arrival, there was a friendly chap ready to seat us on what appeared to be a busy tea time due to the football games showing.
Nevertheless we parked our buggy alongside others near the stage area. We asked questions about the menu and the waitress bought over her manager who answered them but did not take our order at the same time. Waited another 20 minutes to do so... The food took an hour to come from the kitchen, and when it arrived it was very dry, especially the cottage pie, we ended up leaving most of it!
This very poor experience was topped off by a female senior member of staff (Spanish lady, black hair, black outfit), ragging around our daughters buggy, trying to take off the brake to move it. By this point it had been there for around an hour and a half. She said to my partner that its "not a good look" but that she "got it as she has a daughter herself" ... There was no clearly dedicated area for buggy's, despite it being a family friendly venue. As others customers have pointed out, there were only a few friendly members of staff there (young lady, freckled skin, British), others seemed unapproachable with one host female, tanned, slim and blonde lady more bothered about her reflection and offering false smiles to customers as they walked past...
The only reason I gave three stars is because the live entertainment (female singer and male guitar player and singer) were fantastic!
I'd say go here for a good vibe and night of entertainment and drinking, but not for food and certainly not with...
Read morePopped in here a few weeks back, and had a great night with Patrick getting everyone going (he was funny) and a band on from 10pm. Service was good despite being very busy. Not sure if it was the Manager that was running the floor, but she seemed to be over everything, helping take and deliver orders etc on both sides of the floor and pointing out tables for other staff to attend to.
Went back this week, oh dear.
Patrick was running through exactly the same script and jokes, table service was poor (at best). No-one appeared to be interested in serving the tables other than those occupied by their friends, resulting in long queues at the bar. With the exception of the two waitresses, the blokes all look like they would rather be somewhere else or ready to start a fight. Very few smiles to be had from any of the staff. No sign of the previously productive waitress/Manager.
The food looked well presented, but the chips we had (skin-on) were soggy and greasy.
Dorado beer was €2.50 a pint, Madri beer €5/pint
Four big screens showing sport, but it might be an idea to show different events on each screen to get a wider audience rather than one or sometimes two options.
The live bands were the highlight of our visits. Rory Quinn brought a great voice and range of songs, and Folklore another great band that stood out for all the...
Read moreWent to watch a game with family in the morning. First issue – we were overcharged by €11, but after pointing it out we did get the money back. Later that day, they refused to split the bill and insisted we pay at the end instead of as we went. Service was slow – they even forgot my brother’s drink, and since it’s table service only, we had to chase them up to get it.
When it came time to pay, we had already counted everything ourselves, and again they tried to overcharge us, this time by €5. When we asked to see the bill on the screen, the staff member said it “wasn’t on the system anymore.” At that point, I pulled the cash back and demanded a receipt. He was clearly annoyed, but when he finally brought it over, the total had suddenly dropped from €67 to €62.
My advice: pay as you go and keep track of everything. A one-time mistake could be overlooked, but being overcharged twice and then conveniently “losing” the digital record is very shady.
It’s a shame, because the food itself was decent, but the place feels like a tourist trap. If we’d been drunk or distracted, we would’ve easily missed nearly €20 extra being slipped onto the bill. Definitely won’t...
