This place is situated in a busy part of Los Christianos and will get walk ins all year round so this review probably won’t do anything. I visited here with family at about 8:30 pm after having a few drinks in Harry’s Bar next door as it seemed like the natural next step to do after having a few beers. The food wasn’t up to much at all. The onion bhajis looked like they’d been hit with a hammer and overall the food was bland. They forgot my partner’s drink twice and when the food arrived it was dumped on the end of the table by the waiters and we had to pass it down like it was school dinners. We spent £250 on food and yet everything seemed like too much trouble for the staff. Plates were cleared when three of our group were still eating, then towards the end of our meal the bill was put on our table before we’d even finished eating. Now in Canary Island form it normally takes a long while to get the bill after food and it was not very late at all. We are seasoned travellers and even more seasoned ‘post drink curry eaters’ and this wasn’t a good experience. Back to the bill, the bill was placed on our table before we’d fished and about two or three minutes after we finished eating, but when everyone still had nearly full drinks, one of staff told us that “due to Covid” we needed to leave straight away. This was clearly tosh and just an excuse to get us to go once we’d had the very overpriced and not so good food. We paid the bill and it worked out over £45 per head. As an example I had a chicken tikka masala, naan bread and two pints of beer which come to £45. My son’s curry cost £16.95 and only had two prawns in it! I paid the bill and immediately staff came over and started packing up the table before we had finished. We had to leave early due to Covid however one member of staff was wearing his mask over his chin, not covering his mouth or nose and was leaning in close to us to talk and refused to put his mask on when I asked him to, stating that “we all live in the same times and breathe the same air, so why should [he]??” To recap, the food isn’t great and is way overpriced, service is dire and there are many more curry houses to chose from....
Read moreI recently visited Bombay Blue Curry House in Playa de las Americas, and unfortunately, despite the quality of the food, the experience was marred by subpar service and poor communication, leaving our group feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
The meal itself was lovely—well-prepared dishes with rich, authentic flavors. However, the service was a stark contrast. Our server was snappy and dismissive from the beginning, which made even simple requests feel like a hassle. Any time we asked to add something to our order, it felt as if we were imposing. It was particularly uncomfortable when we wanted to order extra drinks but felt that it would be met with frustration. This isn’t the type of atmosphere we expected or wanted when returning to a place we previously enjoyed.
The real issue, however, came when it was time to settle the bill. We requested to pay individually, but the server was resistant, making it clear that this was an inconvenience. When we finally sorted the payment and prepared to leave, we were suddenly told that we had underpaid, despite each person carefully covering their own part. It turned out that the individual prices listed on the menu did not include tax, which was not made clear. This led to a confusing and awkward situation with the staff watching and discussing us, leaving us feeling as if we had done something wrong.
We left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. What was supposed to be a repeat of last year’s memorable experience turned into an unpleasant evening. While the food was excellent, service is just as important, and the unfriendly atmosphere ruined the night. Next time we’re in the area, Bombay Blue Curry House will not be...
Read moreI came to Bombay Blue in a group of 16 people, both adults and children. They took our drink order to start but had to come back in a few minutes to retake it as they lost the first order or something (no explanation was offered).
We then proceeded to order some food which took a long time, which was to be fair, mostly our fault as the group was large and people were undecided.
We waited maybe 15 minutes for the food (not bad for such a large group), but then total chaos ensued! 3-4 waiters bombarded us with the food, yelling loudly at the table for us to accept each dish. In the end we had more dishes (and drinks) than we asked for. We took those to the side and asked them to take them back, since we didn't want to pay for uneaten food. Also when ordering more drinks a waiter scolded a member of our group, saying they were very busy and couldn't be bothered to run for single drinks!
The worst part was that a member of our group (whom understands spanish) overheard the waiters badmouthing and laughing at us, saying we were being awful customers, probably thinking we couldn't understand them!
In the end we had a talk with the head waiter which sorted the over abundance of courses and apologised for the chaotic service.
To sum it up: Food was good Service was bad (mostly because chaos and rude waiters backtalking us) Expensive compared to similar restaurants Would not recommend going in large groups...
