Our dinner at Taste 1973 was an extraordinary experience. Accompanied by “a glass or two” of wine, we enjoyed the “Roque de Arona Hío” menu with 13 outstanding courses, which was passionately presented to us by Diego's great team. It was a culinary journey across the Canary Islands, with detailed explanations from the team about the origin of the products – and beautifully designed cards to take home, which tell you even more about the culture and history of the islands.
The food itself was excellent, with a wide range of fish, meat, vegetarian options, and sweet delicacies. Rarely did I find myself “just” satisfied – rather, almost every dish was so beautiful that it made me want to close my eyes and dream. Seriously, at some points (such as with the tuna) I was close to tears, the cuisine was THAT good.
The presentation of the courses was varied and elegant, without ever trying to be too fancy – I don't want to give away any details, but the cheese selection, the mignardises, and the tasting of Lanzarote's Geria wines were among the (not only) visual highlights. The team managed to entertain us fantastically for over 4 hours. Nothing went too slow, nothing felt rushed, they maintained just the perfect timing for a skillfully composed evening.
We also loved the unrestricted view into the kitchen. Very impressed by how calm and composed all the magic happened. The personal greeting from the cglücksgefühlehef at the end of the evening rounded off our dinner nicely. And the delicious birthday treat, which my wife and I continued to enjoy the next day, was the icing on the cake. Thank you for that, too.
We were asked how the team could do even better. And as much as I appreciate the desire for further development, I hardly had an answer at the time. And I still find it difficult. Taste 1973 delivers on every level: in terms of food, service, presentation, atmosphere, and its connection to Canarian culture.
An evening at Taste 1973 is more than just dinner: it's cuisine, history, entertainment. Hours full of happy moments that are hard to forget. Bravo and all the success in the world to...
Read moreWe visited this marvellous restaurant in october 2024, and we were amazed by the excellence of the food consisting of carefully selected ingrediences from Tenerife, and in particular from the ocean surrounding the island. The waiters made this culinary experience one for us to remember, as the food was introduced relating to the island history, adding an extra dimension to the meal itself. To top it all we were served a wine pairing menu with local wines from the Canary Islands, and several of them where of mindblowing quality and perfectly matched with the corresponding dishes. The Bodegas Tameran 2023 made on the rare grape variety Marmajuelo, native to the Canary Islands, paired with dishes from the restaurant menu is something we will remember forever. Thanks to the chefs, the waiters and the sommeliers at Taste 1973 on Tenerife that made this evening an unforgettable...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed the carefully considered celebration of local produce and flavours through the 13 course tasting menu. Service was discrete and thoughtful, but also kind and welcoming. Let them help you with decisions, the cheese selection was so vast, but our man chose perfectly for us. He also suggested a lovely, very reasonably priced Canarian red by the glass for me as my husband was not drinking. Unfortunately, my husband was not feeling the best, but everyone was so sweet and they worked the pace of the meal around him, we were so grateful to them all. When there is so much international cuisine on offer, it is refreshing and heart warming to experience what feels like an homage...
