Il Camaleonte Pizzeria — Restaurant in Arona

As others have mentioned on here, the staff are not great. We sat inside, it was quiet around 6:30pm. So there’s no excuse for not paying attention to us. My partner has a nut allergy so he tends to make himself food in the apartment, I like to eat out, he will sit with me and have a couple of beers while I’m eating. I’ve found this tends to annoy a lot of restaurants in Tenerife. Even though 4 beers normally equals the price of a meal anyway. We ordered, food came out fast, but then after we were just left sitting there for ages without being asked if we wanted another drink, or the dessert menu. So half an hour passed after I’d collared someone for the dessert menu. I got fed up so I asked for the bill. Bill comes and I’m left sat there again, so I went up to the lady at the till and paid, oh my word the look on her face was like I was a piece of muck on her shoe… terribly sorry that I inconvenienced you by trying to pay my bill. Not sure what it is with food service in Tenerife but some of the larger restaurants really need to work on that. The food deserves 10/10. We have been twice in our weeks holiday and will be going again for their pasta. Their pizzas have been incredible and we are going back for pasta after seeing how good it is, however the staff are the issue. We were served by Herman who was very lovely and went out his way to help us when he could. However the FOH (the bald guy) has the worst attitude i’ve ever seen, they didn’t greet us or let us know of any wait, just saw us and ignored us and for the rest of the meal just kept this attitude. Absolutely disgusting and rude as you could absolutely see how evident it was that he treated locals perfectly but with tourists like us (UK) he was horrible. Even in the lunch time service this guy was horrible, pulled a horrible screw face as we sat down as if it was an inconvenience to we’re there. Anyway, the food is great but that one particular guy is not nice, don’t let it ruin your experience as the place is beautiful and the food is beautiful, delicious and fresh and other staff are great. There are two bald guys, this particular man doesn’t wear a name badge so evidently people have complained...

Restraunt looks fab, that's all it has going for it. We didn't have starters, but ordered three pasta dishes and one pizza and 2 portions of garlic bread. The garlic bread came first, with the drinks and was cold, like it was cooked earlier and then just taken as it was ordered. Then 2 pasta dishes came out and they weren't very hot. We waited for our children's dishes to come for a while. Then, my daughter's lasagne and sons pizza came out. Daughter didn't even need to wait for her lasagne to cool, or blow on it a little because that wasn't very hot either. The only hot meal was the pizza! None of the dishes had much flavour at all. The staff were not tentative, didn't ask if everything was ok with the meal, nor did they ask if we wanted any more drinks despite all our glasses being empty! Needless to say, we did not leave a tip!! I have received much better food and service at much cheaper restaurants and I am also prepared to pay a higher price tag for good food, drinks and service. I would highly recommend you DO NOT waste your time and money here!! I would not go back...
