Canaletes Sandwichgood — Restaurant in Barcelona

We wanted a light dinner so we ordered cabbage, mac and cheese and a tenderloin steak. There were only about 5 tables. After 25min, the short-haired waitress served the mac and cheese (bland) and tenderloin (small). 10min after, she then told us the cabbage was not available. By then we were upset that they took so long to tell us as we were halfway done. She blamed it on the waitress who took our order and had left for the day. We then cancelled the order and the waitress offered to give us a free dessert which we thanked her for and asked for it to be served. However after we were done with our mains, which is 10min later, she came to ask if we wanted the dessert served, so we repeated yes to serve now and to also get the bill. The bill came but we then waited 15min more and then had to ask the waitress if the dessert is coming at all? She then proceeded to give us the menu. Honestly, how clueless can she be?? By then we were so upset that they wasted our time, we packed our stuff and spoke to the front reception. Apparently she thought our dessert was already served and there were only 2-3 tables on that floor! How bad can she be at her job? Even the reception made it sound like we were being difficult about cancelling the cabbage order (it's not even available!) and not wanting to replace it? Seriously very poor service. Will not recommend this...

A wide variety of dishes are available on the menu. I should have taken a picture of their menu book, but I forgot.

For starters, I had mac and cheese, and for the main course, I had grilled spare ribs and a beer. Even though there isn't enough rice or potatoes for everyone at the time we eat, they still manage to provide us with alternatives. Food here is adequate and reasonably priced, I promise you that.

The waitress who took our order was the sole reason for my high rating. She takes our order with grace and a smile, despite the fact that there are 11 of us. From the moment we sit down to the moment we finish eating, she maintains a cordial line of communication.

Having good food, nice service, and an incredible attitude from the server really add to the enjoyment of this dining experience.

Canaletes Cerveseria completely blew us away. Tucked right off La Rambla, it’s easy to assume it might be a touristy spot, but this place is so much more. From the moment we sat down, it was clear they take food—and fun—seriously.

We came for a quick bite and ended up staying way longer than planned. The menu is full of creative twists on Catalan classics, and everything we ordered was absolutely packed with flavor. The grilled dishes especially were a standout—perfectly cooked, smoky, and deeply satisfying.

The vibe? Lively and relaxed, with just the right amount of cool. The staff were super friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. They gave great recommendations and made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit.
