It's hard to find food that innovates using different ingredients, Gula Sana does this very well. Sensitive to a variety of different allergies, the bakery/restaurant features a ton of foods and baked goods.
Their pizza was on point, but is only available on certain days. Sandwiches are obviously gluten free, but you do have options as to the ingredients and toppings on top. Coffee, like everywhere in Barcelona, was justifiably tasty. The cookies were good, but had a grainy texture that a lot of GF baked items usually have.
The service was excellent, as we decided on sitting outside, our server was caring and attentive. Our server also made sure to let us know ow about the goings-on of the neighborhood which led us to not leave our smartphones out so far away from our hands. Very attentive.
The big thing I noticed was that a lot of people dressed in athletic wear and sneakers went in here. It seems to be the place where gym goers go to get some food. So if you're in the area and want some healthy, local food, check...
Read moreWe were spending time in Barcelona between 22.-28.1.2023 and I had been searching for gluten-free restaurants and cafes. As we were around the area I decided to see the effort and make my way to Gula Sana and I was not disappointed. I'm from Finland where EVERYTHING is expensive so in my opinion the prices in Gula Sana are accurate and I'm fine with them. I had the best ever gluten- AND dairy-free brownie and a piece of tuna pie and I was so happy with them! If I don't remember wrong our order in total was around 11-14€ (brownie, pie, tea and a hot chocolate) which in Finland would've been at least 20-25€ easy or even more. The staff was okay, other lady seemed that she didn't want to serve me (maybe due language barrier?) so the other one then stepped in and was warm and welcoming and took my order. The place was full of people but we were lucky and there was one table (for two) free so we got to enjoy our goodies in peace.
I highly recommend this place if you're looking for gluten- and/or...
Read moreA very nice place for people with various intolerances who want to eat a delicious breakfast (or lunch). I really appreciate the exact labeling of what the meals are free for (eg lactose, soybeans, nuts). The choice of Bg dishes is very large. Also the prices are very affordable. We chose the Carlota sandwich and the Vegetal de Atun (tuna) hot baguette. Both were very tasty. The portions are just right in my opinion. My only caveat is that the hot baguette was cold (and the name promises otherwise). Nevertheless, it was delicious. Gluten free bread also very good. We also ordered coffee. A big plus for plant-based milk. The service is very nice, although I feel sorry for the lady who works there, because she serves the entire place herself. Nevertheless, we highly recommend it. It's hard to find such a...
