My favorite meal so far, we had lunch at La Tagliatella, an Italian restaurant with several locations around the city. The focaccia appetizer, topped with goat cheese, guanciale, pistachio, parmigiana, and raspberry pearls was delicious and the focaccia was perfectly crisp with just the right amount of olive oil. Of course, it was even better with a drizzle of the spicy, garlicky oil they provided. This was followed by a mezzaluna pasta stuffed with goat cheese and bacon in a casalinga sauce, which consisted of sausage, tomato, cheese, basil, mushroom and pine nuts. So decadent! We also had a pizza with a thin, crisp, crackly crusty topped with spicy Calabrian salami and a "fuzzer" tomato sauce, which is apparently an heirloom varietal of tomato. After the normal wait to receive our plates, only 4 main courses came to the table. We were told that they were out of caneloni (the missing one). We said that had we known in advance we could have ordered something else. Besides, the main course and the desert were served without removing the previous used plates. The chicken cadenza was especially flavorful and delicious, the sauce was incredible and having it over pancetta was perfect. The service was excellent.
