I visited Le Bistrot for the first time a couple weeks ago while looking for a quiet spot to have a beer and relax before my groups arrived to Barcelona. I was originally drawn in by the relaxing atmosphere and the beautiful southern exposure to the sun, as it is directly adjacent to the park!
I ended up talking to the owner Sebastian for a while and learned that he is a new owner and this restaurant was recently not in the best of shape…. they are in the process of renovating and bringing it back to life. During this time I truly enjoyed the local and family environment that was being created in this beautiful location.
In our conversation it became abundantly clear that this, very friendly and very intelligent, man was incredibly passionate in this new endeavor and was clearly striving for absolute quality in the food & services that they were providing!
Although I did not get a full meal on my first visit, the tapas I had were delicious and I was compelled to make sure I came back to try to try the menu of the day when I returned to Barcelona. Especially listening to the confidence and excitement he had in his newly hired chef, as well as witnessing the food that was brought out…. Not only looked delicious but also plated beautifully, as if in an expensive fine dining restaurant! Menu of the day only 14.90 euros!
I came back 2 weeks later to try the menu of the day, which had a diversity of options and I was not disappointed…!
As an American traveling in Spain, I also have to mention that he is an incredible linguist and even his 12 year old daughter spoke 5 languages! They made me feel incredibly welcome, comfortable and at ease here!
I cannot wait to come back and see all the progression of this beautifully located restaurant and confidently bring groups here in the future!

Read moreI had a very disappointing late lunch on Friday afternoon. This was my second visit to this place (first time after renovation) and the food was just as underwhelming as the first time. I wanted to give another chance to this restaurant, seeing they've invested and reading all these nice reviews, but I was unpleasantly surprised once more.
I ordered croquetas de jamon and bacalao which were at best average (I'm trying to be nice here). Only two main dishes were on the menu so I chose chicken fingers - that was just horrible, something a five year old could make in 10 minutes. Low quality frozen chicken fingers with a bbq sauce on the side for almost 10 euros. I was super hungry so I ate half of it, but I just couldn't eat any more.
I can understand that maybe the main chef was not present due to holiday the previous day, but what is not clear to me how can you serve such a horrendous dish if you are trying to position yourself as a high quality, local bistrot? It would have been better that they didn't serve any food in that case.
This is such a cardinal mistake (and an awful experience for me) which should not happen to anyone who wants to run a serious business. The waiter / owner didn't really ask me how it was, just assured me that normally the food is amazing. I seriously doubt...
Read moreHad dinner here and really loved it. We grabbed a couple of beers and shared a bunch of dishes—patatas bravas, tartar, fried squid, goat cheese, and a Taiwanese spring onion cake (蔥油餅). Honestly, everything was super tasty.
The tartar was really fresh and flavorful, and the squid was perfectly fried—crispy and tender—with a wasabi mayo sauce that was seriously amazing. But the real star of the night was the spring onion cake. It was so good and felt super authentic—we ended up ordering a second one because we just couldn’t get enough.
The vibe of the place was great and the staff were super friendly. Definitely a spot we’ll be...
