If you think that Puerta Del Sol is just full of tourist traps, you've got to make your way to Inclan Brutal Bar. They've got such yummy food with fairly creative presentation and extremely decent prices.

This year Gastroletras 2018 chose Cinema Madrid as its theme which transforms 32 of Madrid’s most traditional bars into artistic institutions (running from March 8 to 18) - offering tapas and menus inspired by dramas from well known movies. Inclan Brutal Bar was one if the participating bars and had the "Titanic" as its featured tapa. The Titanic ended up being a crispy "iceberg" wonton filled with creamy hot squid stew foam underneath a light cool and tangy tuna tataki with a dollop of apple coulish and and guacamole on top. I really liked the contrast of temperature and flavours in this dish and it was so interesting how they presented the tapas with the liquid nitrogen mimicking the waves of the deadly sea. And to top it off, this was only 3€ PLUS a #Mahou beer! Sadly the festival is over but I would still head over to try some of their other creative tapas.

My favourite item on the regular menu would have to be the Buratta injected with basil (9€). The burratta was a dream come true - the cheese had a delicious milky flavor and the soft, stringy curd and fresh cream when mixed with the basil sauce was mouth watering. Topped with some rough seasalt and paired with a few sweet cherry tomatoes and arugula, I couldn't stop eating it and lapped up every last drop of the basil cream with bread.

The Q of duck (5€) is also spectacular. It's basically a sweet, light and creamy yogurt foie gras topped with yummy sweet passion fruit. Definitely a must have! It is easy to see how it won first prize in La Liga Euroanchaos 2016.

The Sardine Skewers (6€) which is actually two pieces of warm sardines baked between two slices of slightly sweetened toast which are then hung from a clothesline above a dry ice box of salad. Scoop some of that romesco sauce (a roasted red pepper and almond spread) on the toast and it's simply delicious.

Eat a Cigar! (4€) was fun and whimsical. A light crispy spring roll made with Cacao bread is filled with with a whipped cod brandade and presented in a case like a box of cigars.

Gazpacho is a must when visiting Spain. The Beet & Tomato Gazpacho (4€) did not disappoint. A velvety smooth thick chilled soup is served in a "brutally smashed" martini glass and topped with fresh fruit crudité. Sweet and refreshing - it would be the perfect way to get some relief from the extreme heat in the summer.

The Tropical salad (8€) was like an explosion of the tropics in your mouth. Made with fresh vegetables, diced  sweet mango, tomato compote, corn powder and avocado coulis, there was a nice tangy, creamy sweet mix of flavours in every bite.

A trip to Spain is incomplete with having a Spanish Tortilla. The Undercooked Potato Omelette infused with black truffle pâté (6€) satisfies that craving with a beautiful browned crust, a delicious light fluffy interior, and just the perfect amount of silky oozy egg that just flows out when you cut into it. I loved how the potatos were soft and mixed with the custardy egg and truffles giving it a rich earthy flavour.

Clearly this is a hidden gem as it's down a small corridor off a small side street. But easily accessible enough with handy google maps! I met a few fellow Chowhounders at the next table and they were saying that they had just been there the day before and had to come back because it was just that good! I also ended up coming back the next day for one last meal before I left the city. Make sure to check it out if...

Worst Dining Experience in Madrid – A Complete Scam

I booked a table for two at Brutal Inclán Bar in Madrid for New Year’s Eve, expecting a nice, intimate dinner with my girlfriend. Instead, we were met with a bizarre, insulting setup. Upon arrival, the staff attempted to seat us at a communal table with 14 strangers, claiming we had reserved “spots at a table” rather than a private table. This critical detail was never mentioned in the booking. It’s an absurd concept and completely unheard of for such an expensive dinner.

What made it even worse? Every couple at the table had paid an outrageous €350 for what we all assumed would be a exclusive dining experience. Naturally, we and the other guests were shocked and outraged. Nobody wanted to pay so much to share an overpriced dinner with complete strangers on New Year’s Eve.

After voicing our complaints, the staff reluctantly dragged out a table for two, dumped it awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant, and provided some cheap, uncomfortable chairs. It felt more like an insult than a solution, and there wasn’t even an apology from the staff.

The food added another layer to the disappointment. The steak was dumped on the table without anyone asking how we wanted it cooked. The rest of the dishes were equally mediocre and completely unworthy of the price.

As if all that wasn’t bad enough, a woman with an iPhone and a bright LED reflector constantly walked around the restaurant, flashing the reflector directly into guests’ eyes with no respect for anyone’s comfort. She seemed to be recording content to make the night look amazing on social media—a complete farce considering the actual disaster happening in the room.

Brutal Inclán Bar is a poorly executed scam. For €350 per couple, we expected an extraordinary evening. Instead, we got a chaotic, unprofessional, and uncomfortable mess. The staff didn’t care at all, and the manager was present yet completely useless. I even felt sorry for the other couples who were stuck at the communal table and clearly not enjoying themselves.

At midnight, the national TV New Year’s countdown program aired, but there was no music. The DJ was talking on the phone and ignoring a lady who politely requested music. When he finished his phone call he continued with music.

PS: Whoever thought it was a good idea to seat strangers together at the same table on New Year’s Eve is a real mastermind.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place-it’s the worst dining experience...

Went for a date night with my wife and was completely shocked by the horrible service. Completely ruined our night.

I was planning to come here for a while now, and with so many good reviews I didn't think I could have such a bad experience - oh was I wrong!

First, the hostess mentioned they canceled out reservation cause we didn't come - while we were waiting in line to be seated (and some useless information on getting a notification I will be covered, but that I really won't be).

After seated, the asked asked to move to another table, which we agreed, and brought as small drink for that but only later we found out we were seated right next to the service room where staff goes in and our every minute, bringing a hot sauna flow from the kitchen/pantry. The

When the waiter arrived, we started ordering, and after I said I'll choose my drink later, the waiter disappeared and came back 10 min later even though I said I would like to finish ordering the food.

After we ordered the food, I asked I I can have one of the cocktails done with an alternative Gin because the particular one on the menu makes me feel bad. He really didn't seem to knkw anything. He came back with the cocktail, said he wasn't sure if they can change it as it's already prepared (seriously?! ) and said I should "see if I like it".

Then he just disappeared and I was left around 15 minutes at the table with a drink I didn't order. I then told this to another waiter, the called the manager and I just asked simply - I just asked if I can change the gin, tell me I can't and I order another one. And I did. Took them 15 more minutes to bring the other cocktail when we we already done eating and my wife done with her drink.

Food was decent but heavily overpriced! Blexcept the Bao, that was bad. 3 eur per croqueta, really?

Summary - overhyped place, very poorly managed, worst service I had in Madrid, and we'll overpriced.

Won't be back!

Honestly this place would be a 5 star location if all the people were like Victor the bartender. That man was fantastic and he was easily amazing - great drinks, great suggestions, a wonderful human being. This review has nothing to do with him and everything to do with our overall experience at this place. First of all - the hostess was RUDE. We walked in, without a reservation, and were told they were too busy to seat us but they could seat us at the bar if something opens up. Totally fine, we get it, not their fault for being busy. Now maybe there was a mistranslation or something but we just asked if we could put our name down on a waiting list or something and we would return when they could accommodate us. The hostess snapped at us and said, no, you can wait or leave we won't seat you. And then we saw the bar open up, and she literally offered it to 2 people that came in AFTER us. Then when we did sit down at the bar we were lucky to have Victor to interact with who again was AWESOME, but then we had a waiter - Simeone who literally was trying to rush us out the WHOLE time. We even told him we were only going to get a couple drinks and a small bite so it wasn't like we were going to be there for hours on end. And then at the end when we asked Victor for some recommendations of bars/places we had heard of, he was cut off by Simeone in his response and they gave us cards of locations (they are affiliated with) to go to. Talk about a total scam/tourist trap move. Hated, HATED the experience here. The drinks and food were great. The people SUCKED - except Victor, Victor was great. My suggestion - save your time and money. There are many places in Madrid with good food and drinks - don't waste your time on a spot where the people are rude.
