Understreet Market - La Latina — Restaurant in Madrid

We stopped for lunch after seeing good reviews and photos of this place on the web. The waiter offered 2-3 places where to sit, even if the restaurant was half empty. The restaurant itself is a very pleasant, colorful and joyful place. The food was below any expectations. First, there was no menu in English, the offered printed one was in Spanish, the ones accessed by Q-code didn't translate to English and showed Spanish whatever language you choose. After a lot of effort and time, we ordered a poke bowl (at he end, my wife ate half of it), and I had a Street Burger, which came half warm. Obviously the burger, at least, was not made on site, but was pre-made and unfrozen before serving. The waiter still asked me when I ordered it whether I wanted it rare, medium or well done :-). I returned the burger 2 more times for warming, and each time it came back the same room temperature, just the bun became spongier. I ate half of it at the end. There was only one waiter and the service was slow. He tried to help with the translations of the menu, with limited success, and at the end when I was paying the bill, he asked for tips... I really do not like and use to write...

We arrived at the place and at the door a girl recived us with a smile and showed us where to seat, the floor was dirty where we sat, we asked for a mid rare burguer meat and arrived at our table was overcooked, something on the stuffed avocado tasted rotten and the quality of the rest of the food was regular. What bothered us even more was witnessing the same girl that told us where to seat mistreating the staff during service, she wasn't wearing a waitres uniform so we thought she was the owner. It created a very uncomfortable atmosphere and made the entire dining experience unpleasant. We where celebrating a birthday but felt so uncomfortable and disapointed with the situation that we didn't order desert. Mi novio me llevó a este lugar por las buenas reseñas y la buena nota que tiene, 4,7* al momento de escribir esta reseña. De entrada el primer encuentro fue con un camarero con dilataciones y un sombrero que lejos de dejarnos pasar amablemente nos miró perdonadnos la vida cuando fuimos a pasar a la vez que el por la puerta sin darnos cuenta. Lo más destacable y posiblemente único del sitio es la decoración, es llamativo, original y está bien decorado. Lo demás solo va de mal en peor. Dejando atrás el camarero de las dilataciones que por suerte no fue el nuestro, cuyo trato era bastante cuestionable a la camarera de la barra a la que hablaba con una arrogancia inaguantable, nuestra camarera aunque muy simpática (una chica rubia), no tenía ni idea de explicar los platos. Varias veces le pregunté por los ingredientes y ni en el caso del burrito, ni de la hamburguesa ni de los tacos me supo decir que llevaba exactamente. Finalmente me decanté por un burrito que me había dicho que llevaba carne, queso, patatas y “esas cosas”. La sorpresa al encontrarme un popurrí de burrito fue lamentable. El burrito parecía compuesto por las sobras de otros platos, llevaba lechuga durísima que dejé en el plato, arroz crudo, de repente venía un sabor picante, que no sabías de que venía exactamente, era carne mechada y no picada como dio a entender y las patatas…. Literalmente eran patatas fritas duras, muy duras, a trozos dentro del burrito. Con el hambre que tenía, solo me comí medio y por no hacerle el feo a mi novio que tan ilusionado me llevó a este sitio esperando encontrar algo más que decente. La guinda del pastel fue el café… café Nescafé. Una decepción total donde el trato entre compañeros y la comida dejan todo que desear. Sin duda lo peor fue el trato en general del camarero de las dilataciones que entre el trato en la entrada y las formas de hablarle a mi pareja diciéndole que se moviera de su sitio porque no podía pasar…en fin. Desconozco el cargo de esta persona en el sitio, pero no son formas de hablarle a nadie y menos a un cliente que está pagando y merece respeto y más cuando te ha tratado educadamente en todo momento a pesar de tus malas caras.
