We attended Vega Alamo for dinner recently and had an absolutely terrible and disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in the door, the staff (in particular the hostess) were rude and unfriendly for absolutely no reason. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant in my entire life. We should have left immediately based on how we were treated at the door, but we were hungry so we stayed against our better judgement. The food was average but most went uneaten as the whole vibe of the place was uncomfortable. This same server/host literally slammed our dishes down and later threw the receipt at us. The way we were treated was completely unprovoked and bewildering. I get that some people have "off nights" but this took it way beyond that. It ruined our evening and we left sad and confused over how we were treated.
And no, we were not rude or disrespectful tourists in any way. We travel in Spain extensively, speak Spanish, and have had lovely vegan meals all over Madrid, including Mudra by Matthew Kenney the night before. We had a reservation and arrived far in advance of closing. I can only assume they have something against tourists at this restaurant and I would recommend avoiding it. There are plenty of other amazing vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Madrid that are kind and welcoming...
Read moreVery nice place to have a vegan meal! The staff is very nice and they also speak English if you lack fluency in Spanish. The meals are very good and 100% plant based and they all have high quality ingredients. I really suggest burrata with bread on the side as a starter, really prepares your stomach for the rest. Prices are fair, definitely not cheap but well balanced with the overall quality standards of the restaurant. Desserts are all nice, they have an option to make you taste a bit of everything and I really suggest the cheesecake or the ice cream, the other desserts are also good but they might not be everyone's cup of tea. At the end of the day the waiters were nice, the food very good, the price a bit on the high side but TOTALLY FAIR with what we had, the place was nice and clean and people in the kitchen really know what they're doing. If I only had to find a negative: bread was nice but you have to pay for it (it's just not a common thing in my country, maybe it is in Spain idk) and for 1€ you only get two slices, but it's good, so it's ok. If they were more generous with bread and water (like bringing a jar for free) this would've been an 10/10...

We made a reservation for 4 adults and a baby stroller and they put us in the very back corner table, so other diners had to get our of their seats to let the stroller through. The manager (?) came by later and said next time we should put that we have a stroller in our reservation and then they would give us a table with easier access. However, I had an email confirmation from the restaurant proving that I had included the stroller in our original reservation.
I ordered a glass of Carucho (listed on the menu as rosé) and the waitress brought me a red wine. When I asked to see the menu because my drink was incorrect, she apparently had another look at the menu, and clarified that the red wine was called Carucho Natural and told me if I wanted the rosé I had to specify Carucho Rosado (however that is not how it is specifically listed on the menu). She did not offer to replace my red for the rosé.
The staff forgot an order of Patatas Arrugas that should have been an appetizer but came out after the entree. I had the quinoa burger which was a lot of bread and a small quinoa patty.
