The restaurant is centered in an idyllic spot a stones throw away from the beach. The table setting and furniture sets the restaurant up to look amazing. If only the experience were as good as the aesthetics…
We took a 20 minute walk to the restaurant and we had booked a table for 7pm. The hotel and restaurant is based on a hill so by the time we arrived and in 27 degree heat, my partner and I were a sweaty mess! As we were shown to our table, there were only 3 other tables sat down and the head waiter, Paco, showed us to a table in the sun. I had asked if we could be seated out of the sun in the shade on a table adjacent to the one we were on, with the same amount of seats as ours. I was told that this could not be possible as there was another booking at the same time. Throughout our dining time, no one had sat on the the table in the shade.
I had asked for some table water as soon as we sat down. It took 25 minutes for the water to arrive. I asked for a drinks menu or a section of the menu where the cold drinks/ beverages were placed and was told that they only have a wine menu.
Throughout the experience, the whole time we felt that we were a burden on the “head waiter” and did not feel welcomed whatsoever. We asked for a jug of sangria and was told they only sell by the glass. So my partner and I ordered a glass each. 10 minutes later a table near us received a jug of sangria? Strange.
The food was average at best. My partner ordered the shrimp pasta and I ordered the Iberian pork. Similar to the restaurant, the food looked good but a quite bland experience. Nothing to rate about for a 5 star.
Notwithstanding, the rest of the staff seemed a lot friendlier than the head waiter.
The fact that there’s a supplementary tip of 10% added on to the bill after having quite a poor experience was just the icing on the cake.
At least the view was nice. Worst meal and dining experience of our 7 day holiday here in Mallorca and won’t be coming back in a hurry. If the restaurant is anything like the hotel, I wouldn’t...
Read moreAs a regular guest and a local resident of Palma, dining at A Popa has become one of my favorite pleasures on the island. It is, without question, one of Mallorca’s most spectacular restaurants — a true hidden gem within the elegant Nixe Palace Hotel.
The setting is simply extraordinary: dining by the sea with breathtaking views over the Mediterranean and the gentle sound of the waves creating a uniquely relaxing atmosphere. The cuisine, crafted with great talent and creativity by Chef Toni, is exquisite — refined Mediterranean dishes full of authentic flavor and presented with impeccable style. The cocktails are also superb, making the whole experience even more special.
A special mention goes to Francisco Serrano, the Hotel’s Director, whose dedication and attention to detail can be felt throughout the entire property. His leadership and warm hospitality ensure that every visit to A Popa and to the Nixe Palace is nothing short of exceptional.
For those who appreciate fine dining in an idyllic seaside setting, A Popa is an experience not to be missed — even for those of us lucky enough to call...
Read moreAnother excellent dinner here. We had ceviche and the octopus tentacles to start. The ceviche was good and the octopus was excellent. We shared the sirloin and they split it for us which contributes to the excellent service rating! They are so great here. The views of the water and surrounding beach area are so nice. We love this place.
If you found this helpful follow me. I don’t give many 5* because I reserve that for the very best in food, service and experience. I try to be quick to the most important stuff, the food. Then add notes about the...
