Give this place a miss, it is absolutely not worth your time or money. The burgers are.... fine. Just fine. But is that really the standard we want to set for a dedicated burger restaurant? What's more there are only 7 burgers on the menu... and of those 7, three of them are Spanish, Mallorcan and Italian "variations" of the same Beef-Pork burger, one pastrami burger and one chicken burger. It's really just not enough variety or inventiveness to warrant this place calling itself a "burger lab". The fries are the same greasy, limp kind that you would find in any mid range spanish menu-del-día restaurant. The drinks are miniscule 250ml - 330ml bottles and the prices are ludicrous for the quality and portion sizes. My burger was a soggy mess about 3 minutes after it arrived and despite there only being 5 covers at the time the waiter took 20 minutes to realise I had finished and was waiting for my bill, never once stopping to ask how things were or inquiring whether I enjoyed my meal ( I didn't).
I realise I may be sounding unduly harsh, however, I cannot help but compare this place to "Badal Corner" which is only 10 minutes away, has a cosy atmosphere, wonderful burger variety (with a great degree of customisation) and fries (both potato and sweet potato) that are out of this world. All of that for a lower price point per person. Honestly there is absolutely no reason to ever go to the Burger Lab with such a stellar alternative so closeby.
Please! please! please! do not go here until the place gets its act together and starts measuring up to the...
Read moreWhen a Michelin chef opens a burger joint, and even lends his name to the front (Burgerlab by Adrian Quetglas), I believe that it is fair to expect something special and innovative. Unfortunately this was not the case when we visited today. The quality of the burgers were fine, but hardly "the new black". And sorry, but adding melted cheese with a syringe is just a cheap gimmick, not exactly culinay innovation.
So, burgers where fine, but not really worthy of the Quetglas name, the fries had good taste but were cooked in that special Spanish way that leaves them flaccid. The one bright (Michelin) star on the table was a perfectly thought out and executed side order of sweet potato (sweet and sour and wonderful). Some of the salads that were ordered by our fellow laboratory visitors looked very good and we will be back to try these, but we will probably skips the burgers which is not what you want in a burger joint!
And also, dear lab assistants - when you offer two different buns, get the order right...
For a really great burger experience, move into the side streets of Palma for Raimundo burgers!
For a true Quetglas experience, try lunch at Quetglas' main restaurant in Palma (only a few hundred meters away from the burger lab) a truly great meal at a...
Read moreI tried the vegetarian burger, which was good. However, the burger comes with nothing - neither potatoes nor salad - so I find the prices very expensive. Also we were charged 10% extra for service, which was written in very tiny letters at the end of the menu, so obviously we did not see it. In my opinion, this should be written right next to the prices in order not to fool the customer. Otherwise to me it looks as if customers are lured there with false prices and then charged more. The staff was very...
