KOMBU Asian Fusion Food — Restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz

We ate dinner here, and felt like the restaurant made a good impression from the outside. However, we left very disappointed. Except two other people we were the only people there when we ate. We ordered the Dim Sum that cost 8€, which is pricey for cold dry Dim Sum that tasted microwaved and were garnished with a weird bell pepper sauce and a sauce that tasted store bought. They were tasteless and cold, and also very small.

We then had the seafood Yakisoba and the chicken Udon as our maincourse. They bought tasted like cup noodles. The chicken Udon had three small pieces of chicken in them, and the portion was disappointingly small for the 11€ the Udon cost. The sauce was pretty bland and unidentifiable. The Yakisoba with sea food tasted too savory, and like they were just 5 minute noodles with soy sauce poured over them. Nothing special, and I believe they cost 12€ approximately. On top of this, the menu was very confusing, and especially the digital menu was not very well organized. I was there with my daughter, and we ended up having to look up pictures on Google of the food we wanted because we were a bit confused. Now, all of this would have made me want to give this restaurant a 1 out of 5 stars. However, I wanted to give a star to give credit to the INCREDIBLY friendly and polite server, a very kind lady that was incredibly patient and considerate. We ended up finishing our plates because we were famished and we didn’t have the heart to tell the server how we felt about the food, and felt too bad in the moment to tell her. In general, the cook and the people there were very nice, but the quality of the food does not justify spending 33€ (including a coke and a mineral water) to visit this restaurant. Fantastic food at Kumba in Puerto de la Cruz, in addition to this, the service was absolutely perfect. We received a very friendly welcome and were told the idea of the restaurant right away.A small and simple menu with delicious dishes. While ordering some dishes to share, Sheila came to explain to us about the dishes, what it consisted of and what was tasty to eat. Sheila helped us throughout the evening and was good to talk to, in doing so she came by often (but not too often) to see how we were doing. After eating delicious food, we wanted to end the evening with dessert. Unfortunately, the dessert was out of stock, but Sheila knew a solution. It happened to be the chef's birthday and she offered to ask if we could have a piece of his birthday cake. We then got a delicious cheesecake with a scoop of ice cream, which was on the house. After speaking to Sheila about her fantastic service, she told us that was her 2nd working day, shows well how motivated she was and that she enjoys her job. No me gusta hacer comentarios injustificados, pero creo q se debe dar a conocer para q intenten evitar reincidir en determinados errores. Fuimos el sábado a almorzar, justo el día antes de irse de vacaciones. Reservamos para 5 comensales a las 14:15 hs y llegamos primero 2 personas , una de ellas celíaca. Pedimos agua, y nada más llegar, nos dicen que no hay ni salmón ni atun pq no se los habían servido . Bueno, ......... Le comentamos q necesitábamos comida para celíacos y entre los platos q nos ofrecen (que no eran muchos) nos menciona los rollitos y le digo q eso era una de las cosas por las que íbamos y que los queríamos comer. Llega el resto de comensales y nos piden la bebida . Nos sirven el vino y en eso llegan 7 personas sin reserva previa para ver si podían atenderlos. Pues si pudieron! , de hecho, se desaparecieron y nos dejaron esperando para tomar nota de la comanda hasta el punto de que cuando nos vienen a atender de nuevo ( un buen rato después y con vino solo en mesa), nos dicen q no les quedan rollitos (obviamente se los dieron a la otra mesa q llego después , sin reserva y que atendieron antes). Muy, muy feo! , pq sabiendo q le habíamos dicho q los queríamos, q menos q preguntarnos cuántos queríamos y reservarlos, pero creo q estaban más pendientes de irse de vacaciones q otra cosa. Además, por motivos obvios era una de las pocas cosas que podía comer una de las comensales . Yo por educación hacia mis amigos me quedé sentada y no me levante y me fui, pero le dije a la srta q nos atendía q había ido para comer los rollitos y supongo que habrá notado el disgusto en mi cara; de hecho no me pronuncie más en la toma de la comanda pq como pueden imaginar, me sentí "ninguneada". Pedimos varios entrantes y de segundo solo acertaron con mi plato: *Dos personas pidieron arroz con calamares ( de hecho le dijeron claro a la srta q de conejo no); pues si! Conejo para ambos . Yo de eso me entere después de salir del restaurante pq no me dijeron nada porque sabían que ya estaba muy disgustada con lo de los rollitos *Le habían ofrecido a la persona intolerante al gluten un arroz con pollo (como traía el pollo empanado, se lo traerían sin freir para q pudiera comérselo dado q no había comido casi nada) . Imagínense......Pues al traernos los platos : dos de conejo y uno de pollo empanado para ella, Rápidamente le dijo q no podía comérselo por ser celíaca. Ya me dirán ustedes en q estaba pensando la srta ....... Empezamos a comer cuatro porque se enfriaba los platos ( dos de ellos con su conejo en lugar de calamares) y retiraron el plato para traerlo de nuevo sin gluten, cuando ya estábamos terminando el resto ...... Lo único q puedo valorar positivamente de esta experiencia, y ya que digo lo malo, digo el resto , nos trajeron el arroz con pollo para no tirarlo en un envase para llevármelo. Iba con muchas ganas a conocer el sitio pq siempre hay que apoyar a los emprendedores de aqui, pero me fui muy decepcionada . Valga esta critica para q cuiden un poco más a los clientes ya q no se trata de un restaurante precisamente baratillo y vamos para comer bien, con unas expectativas, pero ustedes mismos saquen su opinión . Prefiero pensar que solo fue un mal día

Pagamos 30 € por persona con dos botellas de vino . Lo aclaro porque no me deja aclararlo...
