The Black Turtle - Cirilo Amorós — Restaurant in Valencia

I have been to the black turtle before in other locations, it was a long time ago so I was very excited to go back when in Valencia. Unfortunately it was quite a let down. We sat waiting for 30 minutes without our order being taken. I had to go up to the waitress and ask her to take her order, she then said just a minute and walked off without returning. I then went back to my table to my husband to suggest leaving and a waiter came out, walked straight past us and our table, and went to take the order of another table who had only just arrived 5 minutes ago. They completely ignored our table. The lady at the other table actually said to the waiter excuse me but I think they were before us and they have been waiting for some time now. He then proceeded to take our order, without any apologies or acknowledgement of our long wait time and being ignored. When the food arrived it was... Okay. The chips were lovely, but the burger itself was quite dry. Even though it seemed there was plenty of sauce on, the sauce was only on one half and because of the pancakes, cheese, and the burger all being quite dry, it definitely needs more sauce throughout the burger and then it would be much nicer like I remembered (I think in the past it had sauce drizzled on top which made a big difference). I would give the place another chance next time I am in Valencia and maybe try a different burger, but the service needs a massive improvement because it was quite shocking. As soon as I found out about this burger joint I knew I had to go there! I went for dinner on my first evening in the city...no hanging about! I decided to go for the Tartufo burger which consisted of a nice slice of Edam cheese, a fried egg, mushrooms and their special truffle sauce! For the pattie I opted for aged beef which cost €1.95 extra...but it was worth it! The burger was cooked medium, just the way I like it and the meat was very flavoursome....but I just felt the combination of the ingredients with the burger was lacking something as the truffle sauce was quite mild and the mushrooms didn't add much flavour to assembled burger and made the burger too wet....it could of done with something like chilli jam instead to bring it all together. But overall very good size burger! The fries were okay, but lacked salt in my opinion, so I asked for some. Also, they were a bit small, seemed like I got the bottom of the frier. Staff were friendly and attentive. Just the 4 stars as I've had some burgers that would beat this one. Defo check this company out though as they do some really top...

Burgers dry and cold. My dining partner got her order 10 minutes after I finished my burger. Why? Loud and obnoxious music in a leafy and calm neighborhood across from a church. Decoration and disco lights along with plastic plants make it undesirable. The graffiti on the inside wall says “plastic free” while plastic plants hang from the ceiling. This location has an authenticity issue. 5 tables total at lunch and mediocre unfriendly service. We were sat at a table for 4, then 7 minutes later another server comes out and wants us to move - the dining room was empty and there were 6-8 other tables for 4 that sat empty. 🤷‍♂️ The burger bun was nice - Soft and sweet brioche style (think shake shack). Onion rings also a nice surprise, but it ended there. Ketchup packets thrown on the table for good measure and as a thanks for coming. It’s a competitive burger market here, I have a feeling there are better and more well rounded joints out there. 🤞
