I fancied trying a horchata drink after dinner on my last night in the city and I wasn't disappointed! I'd never had one before and know it's quite popular here as it's from the south-western region of Valencia. It's made from tiger nuts (chufa) and can be drunk smooth and more liquid or grainy and thicker. I went for a big smooth one with suger and I really enjoyed it! It was cold, so made for a lovely refreshing treat! :) Along with that I decided to have a cream cake...the Danielet is their special signature pastry with a sort of custard cream inside it and it was very tasty and light! The perfect accompaniment for my horchata! :) So, if you're in Valencia and thinking about giving the horchata drink a go then definitely give this local company a go for a true taste of Valencian tradition! And grab a cake while you at it too! ;) Service was friendly and...

We tried Horchata for the first time at Horchatería Daniel, one of the most traditional spots in Valencia. The gentleman who served us has clearly been working there for many years, which adds to the charm of the experience.

If you want to taste real, traditional Horchata—not just the tourist-oriented versions you see around the city—this is the place to go. Personally, I didn’t enjoy the flavor too much, but it’s definitely worth trying as part of Valencia’s culture.

My recommendation is to start with a small Horchata to see if you like it, and pair it with a farton (a sweet pastry that you dip into the drink). Sharing is also a good idea if you’re trying it for the first time.

The place itself is simple, nothing fancy, but the experience is authentic and highly recommended for anyone wanting to taste Valencia’s true...

The food is good, but the service is awful. The waitress literally told us to go because she wanted our table to serve more customers when we didn’t even finished the food. It was not like we stayed there without consuming we were and still eating. Then when we told her that she could have wait for us to finish she complained about us being rude and noisy… yes sorry we had 2 kids and a baby but which totally behaved well (compared to other day believe me it was the case). I wanted to complain to the manager but others told me to dont waist time…

Fartons and horchata!! Nice and warm fartons, soft on the inside and light crispy on the outside. Together with an ice cold horchata it’s amazing! We went back on our last day to order some to bring home (recommended!), which I toasted and were still delicious. Also tried the marieta. If we had more time we would’ve tried more. Service was okay, you need to try a bit harder to get their attention when it’s busy. Very nice location though in the Mercat de Colón, busstop in front of it, metrostation Colón not to far, and during Las Fallas also a Falla on the corner outside the Mercat and other traditions going on.
