My friends a I thought we would try the dinner buffet at Colombo Kitchen. There was an offer going on and I made the reservation a week ahead thinking it would fill up fast due to the ongoing promotion. But didn’t seem like there were many people on the day. To say I was disappointed with the overall experience would be an understatement. To start off with the few plus points I did notice. The staff were very nice and attentive. The desserts were the only good thing about the buffet. There wasn’t a large selection but the little that was available was good. We also enjoyed the sweet hoppers and crepes. The Jaffna crab curry was excellent too. The bad! - We started off with some fresh juices. They were served unchilled and we had to request for ice. There wasn’t no sugar syrup offered with the lime juice and we had to ask for that too. They had a seafood grill but they just mix everything up and you don’t end up getting what you selected. When my friend was given his plate he said that’s not what he selected. The chef very rudely, just told him that he would have to take it. Maybe change the guy at the seafood grill because he didn’t seem happy being there. The prawns weren’t fresh and tasted off. Our bad stomachs the next day just proved the observation. They had an impressive looking large grilled fish but on closer inspection I realised it was raw in the middle. The spread was just so mediocre and sad. There wasn’t any dish that I could say I enjoyed except the crab curry. There were not a lot of meat items either. It was also extremely warm in the restaurant and it seemed like the air con was turned off. My opinion is that there was not a lot of thought or effort put into the whole set up. It doesn’t even come close to the other buffets at other 4/5 star hotels. It was honestly a...
Read moreWe had an unforgettable dining experience on December 26th with six adults and two 4-year-old kids. The dinner offered an impressive and diverse spread that catered to all tastes.
The highlights included action stations with fresh seafood and meats, such as crabs, cuttlefish, prawns, pizza, pasta, noodles, and hoppers. The Indian corner featured a delicious biriyani and an array of Indian desserts. Adding a local touch, Sri Lankan traditional sweets like konda kawum, welithalapa, halapa, and muscat etc. were also available.
There were additional dishes such as grilled chicken and a kottu, which were prepared to perfection. A dedicated fruit corner with pineapple, watermelon, and papaya was refreshing and complemented the meal.
Other notable stations included a Japanese corner, cold salads, oysters, chilled crabs, and a crêpe dessert station that my kids particularly enjoyed. The food was beautifully presented, making everything look irresistibly appetizing.
The staff and chefs were incredibly supportive and attentive, further enhancing our experience. This dinner is highly recommended for anyone seeking a mix of Indian, Sri Lankan, and international cuisines in a stunning setting with...
Read moreWe chose the Sheraton Colombo Hotel to celebrate our friend's birthday. We chose their dinner buffet to add a new experience to our memory book. It was held at their Colombo Kitchen Restaurant on the first floor. It was a beautiful and clean place and the way the food was served there was also very beautiful. All the food and drinks here were very precious and very delicious. The grill meat live action kitchen won our hearts. It must be said that the side dishes here were also very tasty. And the staff of Colombo Kitchen are very friendly, efficient and provide high service. It must be said that their chefs also provide very good service. The best thing I saw here is that the entire working board is blessed with good teachings. The service of Apsara and Nimasha should be specially mentioned. Chef Sampath Ranaweera, Chef Rakshand gave their service very well. Pasindi and the other team of employees were very diligent and provided high quality service to us regularly. Their manager Mr. Susita was also behind them giving high support. We highly appreciate the service of everyone we mention or not. If you go, I highly recommend it as a...
