While I enjoyed the atmosphere I was not impressed. As a last minute stop for food I thought it had great reviews I should give it a try. Upon walking up I could not find anyone to ask for a table. Went to the bar they told me to find a waitress, mind you I have walked well into this “restaurant” to find one. When I finally find someone I am standing around for the next 10 minutes ignored. Now I under that servers/waitresses can be busy, but a “we’ll be with you” or “one moment” can go a long way. After finally getting a response I’m told sit anywhere, it takes a waitress 20 mins to speak to me. You may be wondering was it crowded? Nope not even close.
I wish they had a larger selection of food, but I was hungry and decided to go with it. Ordered a 3 meal special: starter, main and dessert. As well as a cocktail. The cocktail was nice not overly remarkable but good. The food however was hard to eat. My starter was a mixed salad w/ lettuce, that’s how it was described. It was drowned in oil and salt, unreasonably so. I wouldn’t have minded the taste of the dressing had it came on the side and I can add as much of it as I wanted instead the salad was dripping wet. Almost soggy. I had a tough time getting through half of it. Not 3 minutes later my main came out. Happy to try something other than soggy salty lettuce, my next plate was the flank steak with tomatoes and French fries. Yeah I’m not sure if the theme of the Summer 3 was salt on a plate but that’s what I got. The steak was over salted, the tomatoes was like a salsa with onions and lemon juice. The French fries tasted as if they got thrown into a bucket of salt. Not appetizing at all. The only saving grace was the strawberries with ice cream for dessert. That was it.
By the time I finished my meal it was another 30 mins before someone took my plate. Then it was 40 mins before someone came back around to give me my check. I asked other staff but they said my waitress will come around shortly. I was at this restaurant for 2 and a half hours for food that I consumed in 30.
Not a fan and don’t recommend. I went when it was least busy around 6:30 pm and didn’t leave until 9. I’m not expecting 5 star service but I am expecting some response. I sat and watched as other tables experienced this wait as I did. They had people to talk to, as a solo traveler I find most of the time I’m in and out fairly quickly. But this was one of the worst places I’ve been to. If you don’t mind waiting forever and getting subpar food this is the place. If you stay in the hotel it works for a quick drink if anything. But otherwise don’t eat here.
Really wish I experienced the same 4 star...
Read moreI stayed here on a flying visit, and after the reviews this seemed like a great place. Buzzing and in a great location, I walked from the train station to Downtown camper. This review is for the restaurant, not the hotel btw.
So Campfire is a big restaurant. Lots going on and a lovely atmosphere.
Cool venue and the food smelt amazing coming from the open kitchen.
My small issue is, well, I didn't get to eat here.
As a solo traveller I often eat in the place I'm staying. It's convenient and normally hassle free. As I stood at the to-be-seated section waiting to be seated I studied the menu which looked really good. I read it and then re-read it, as I waited and waited for someone to greet me, and after about 10 mins I asked a server who came close enough to speak to and looking around she said, there are no tables for one and I should go eat in the bar. I thought fine, no problem, but just to check, I wanted something specific from the menu and would I be able to order from this menu, to which the answer was yes of course. And despite the slightly unfriendly and unaccommodating interaction, perhaps the bar would be a bit more conducive. Well it turns out the menus are not the same and you won't be able to have the dish you want if you eat there, so I was a little annoyed to say the least and when I went back to the restaurant there were plenty of seats but I felt asking again might just be too much effort, and I was now getting hungry. So I nipped out to the mall for dinner.
To sum this up, awful customer service, nothing like the excellent desk staff when I checked in. If you can't serve a solo traveller please announce that on your menu otherwise all customers are equally as important, you will...
Read moreLunch was not worth 165 kr. There are so many better lunch places around. We thought we’d try this place because of it’s location. The salads were a beet salad (good flavor but beets undercooked), a pea salad, some mixed lettuce, celeriac root salad and potato salad. Then for hot food two different roasted potatoes, and then a fish and meat both on small plates. The meat was a slice of roast that was very fatty and not very flavorful and the fish was a very small piece of cod that had been sitting under the heat lamps and therefore was chewy and completely dried out. The dessert table (which I thought would have far more options) had a raspberry cream torte which was decent and some fruit and mini croissants. We were completely underwhelmed with this meal which was sad because it is...
