Had the Franky’s Original. The burger patties were great: tasty, not overdone, not too greasy. However, otherwise the burger was a bit dull and lacking flavor; perhaps could have used more sauce or more of something pickled. This kind of lettuce doesn’t really add anything since it’s almost like flavorless soft paper; something more crunchy would at least add texture — or the lettuce should also be seasoned. The pickled onion was also too mild; fried or caramelized onions could work better.
EDIT: Now that I think about it and look at the picture, they might have forgotten to add tomato to my burger. That would at least partially explain why it felt like something was missing.
The biggest problem was probably the bread. The texture was interesting, fluffy but rather dry, not very pleasant; most likely they were not long enough on the grill; getting the buns a bit more crispy could have helped, or perhaps letting them suck more of the juices; if the bread would not have been so dry, it would probably have already elevated the burger to the next level. You can already see from the picture how pale and dry it was. With such dry bread it’s crucial to have enough moisture in the burger! I don’t think the lower bun had any dressing, that would already help a little.
Although this burger was a bit of a disappointment, I still want to try some of the other burgers, especially thanks to the patties.
They serve 0,25l servings of draft beers (väntöl) which is very nice when you don’t want a full pint or so. Plus for that!
The restaurant is very small and as it’s very popular it gets very crowded and noisy, so it’s better to eat quick...
Read moreThe best burger in Stockholm, no doubt! Though it has been even better before their new location. Obviously the location is not what changes it. In the old location there were only 1 staff, the founder. They grown now and he got employees. Still they hold it surprisingly good. Should not compare them to other burgershops that have grown much too big. As mentioned this is still the best there is in Stockholm. Juicy meat with great taste, that is melting in your mouth, fresh dressing, crispy salad and a soft fluffy bun to wrap it up. The sides pommes frites, sweet potato and cajun pommes stripes is above average but not perfect. The sweet potato fries here are long shaped, which is rare in this buisness. They often are short and/or broken. Not at Frankys though! There is a pretty simple yet clean menu. This is not the place to try any crazy burgers with a lots of odd toppings. There are a few great combinations. Since the meat here is that good I reccomend the classic burger to fully taste the great...
Read moreTo paraphrase my colleague when I tried to describe the location of Franky's to him: "That place?! I must've walked by there a 100 times. I didn't realize they serve burgers." I don't think anyone does, unless told. You can't tell the name of the place from across the street since the place is lacking any large signs. Quite inconspicuous. What it doesn't lack though, are great burgers. I'm talking 5-star, up there, in my opinion, in the top 5 of burger places in this city along with Svenska Hamburgerköket, Flippin' Burgers and Bun Meat Bun (and, I'm sure, others I've yet to try). It's a tiny place and only a few seats outside on the sidewalk. I had the 'Texas' burger and it was super delicious. At first I thought it looked kind of tiny, like I should've sprung for the double paddy, but it was alright. Some 150 sek for the 'Texas' with fries and a bottle of soda. Not cheap, but definitely within the acceptable price range for a burger this good. You can opt out of the fries and...
