Summary and price-performance ratio 7/10 Sunday lunch time, middle of May. A table was reserved for 4 people. We opted to stay in restaurant due to the weather forecast. The restaurant was not very busy for a Sunday. The local products used were fresh and prepared with knowledge. Unfortunately, the restaurant does not live up in all respects to its own expectations, based on the menu card and the pricing. Restaurant products 7/10 • The website is up-to-date and the menu card is up-to-date • Bread, salt and three spreads as well a very tasty 'greeting from the kitchen' was offered. The bread was heated-up and a little dry • We ordered: mineral water with gas, Artichoke & Burrata, Summer Salad 2018, Pike-perch, Asparagus ragout, Asparagus with two kinds of ham. For the dessert we choose Sternen Cheesecake and Scoops of ice cream along with espresso or coffee • All meals were well prepared. The presentation of the dishes though, was either 'very' inspired e.g. 4 potato chips added vertically to the mashed potatoes or did not exist at all (2 kinds of ham). Another mystery was the pepper salami added to the summer salad. Restaurant Facilities | 8/10 The historic building has a lot of atmosphere but presented challenges to the interior designers that were not all solved with aplomb. This is especially true for the entrance area where the buffet for the front garden (I guess), with a huge coffee machine, is located. • Dining room exhibits an organized appearance; tables are uniformly set • The chairs are comfortable and there is ample space between the tables • Flatware was not tarnished • No background music • Staff uniforms are appropriate and free from any sign of wear or dirt • The restrooms are clean and equipped with contemporary sanitary facilities • A secure coat rack is not available • To find parking space in the area is a (real) challenge. Restaurant Service | Rating 9/10 • We were greeted personally and shown to our table • The staff is friendly, polite, professional and efficient • The bill was presented...

We wanted to visit this place since longtime because of its beautiful location next to the Rhein, but always hesitated because of the prices. Finally we have made it there to celebrate an occasion.
The outdoor seating under the trees next to the Rhein is most atmospheric and specially nice on a hot summer day. The Service is quick, attentive organized and friendly. We had a Gazpacho soup and a Salad with goat cheese for the starter. For the mains we went for the veal with french fries and the lamb rack with polenta and Ratatouille and for dessert some ice cream with chocolate sauce.
The food is rather traditional and down to earth. It is well made but it is lacking any kind of innovation. The type of kitchen you get is something you would expect somewhere on the country side at an inn. In contrast to a typical country inn, the portions were rather small and they really were expensive (something you would expect more at a high cuisine restaurant).
In summary, in our opinion the Restaurant is mixing two different concepts: country inn versus high cuisine restaurant. For us, we left the restaurant with the feeling of having overpaid - specially if you consider that you can eat on the french side real high cuisine for half...
Read moreLovely location right by the Rhine, with beautiful spaces for any occasion. Thanks to the good weather my party of 8 was able to sit at one long table on their beautiful patio, while enjoying snacks and prosecco. Arranging this in advance with Mr. Kohler was easy and uncomplicated and ad hoc changes were accommodated. Our group felt so comfortable there that the decision was taken to go back very soon for a full meal, which we hope to...
