Huguenin — Restaurant in Basel

This is THE most charming café Basel has to offer, you have to experience the first floor, you will be taken back to a wonderful area of the grand classy coffee houses of the olden days. I am proud to say that the Hugenin coffee shop and restaurant has been our place to go to with close friends to discuss all things important and to talk about our dreams. I can say this because I have been a regular guest for 28 years now, I have always had wonderful and friendly service and admire the elegance and professional style of the Lady, who has Hugenin under her name!! However, I made an early decision literally that I needed to keep distance of the best patisseries in town for the common well known addiction risks 😅.

I recently visited Huguenin, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. My friend and I stopped by for some drinks, and the service was just awful. The staff seemed disinterested and unattentive, and it took them a long time to even acknowledge our presence.

When we finally managed to flag someone down and place our order, it took even longer for our drinks to arrive. When they did, they were poorly made and tasted terrible. We both ended up leaving our drinks untouched and just paid the bill to get out of there.

Overall, I would not recommend Huguenin to anyone. I would look for a diffrent place when u pass by...

I have visited Huguenin many times on my visits to Basel, sometimes just for a coffee, and sometimes for lunch. My latest lunchtime experience wasn't the greatest, though. Both I and one of my companions ordered the Cordon Bleu, but we felt it was very dry and definitely lacking in cheese inside. We made this known to the waitress, but she didn't seem much interested in our feedback and barely acknowledged it, mumbling that she would pass it onto the kitchen, but giving us the impression that it was nothing to do with her, although she obviously represents the restaurant as customer-facing...
