L'Osteria Basel Plaza — Restaurant in Basel

Tldr; Food poisoning, rude staff, stingy food portions, unhygienic.

Yesterday evening me and my siblings came to eat and compared to previous experiences, yesterday was by far the worst.

The dark-skinned waiter became rude, compared to his past welcoming presence, and he seemed like he was upset that we came to eat (Closing time is 11pm and we came at 9pm).

While my siblings got carbonara (pasta), I got pizza prosciutto and I was very disappointed. I once had takeaway from here and my pizza had an abundance of the meat, yesterday, a mere 6 pieces… I requested for more prosciutto and thankfully they put more on my pizza, however, due to them putting it back in the oven, my pizza became dry af.

Now for the food poisoning, thankfully nothing happened to me, but my siblings, who ate the carbonara (and another creamy pasta dish), got food poisoning, most had diarrhoea but one sibling also had vomiting (at 3am).

Whether it is due to them trying to close sooner than planned or the kitchen is generally dirty, other than the place itself, it was a horrid experience.

Nonetheless we tipped for 20.- Fr. because we seemed like a bother to them, but we’re probably not coming to this affiliation anytime soon.

PS: this also reminded me of one time where we ordered the mascarpone strawberry dessert and the cream tasted spoilt. I assume they just don’t keep track on the cream’s expiration date.

EDITED!! The food is good and always quick. We visit this place a lot. However the service has just been awful as of late. Once we were served flat coke, the gas obviously needed changing or they were flat bottles (not sure how they serve it) but the waiter argued with us, told us we were wrong and refused to change them. Really awful. Another time we made a reservation on what we knew would be a busy night. We arrived and they had no table booked for us after receiving confirmation. The place was jammed and luckily we got a table but it was a bad table. Then we were kind of made feel we had to eat and leave quicky because of how busy it was. We have had several other incidents of bad/rude/slow service. Such a pity as we really like it there!!

ORGIANAL: Overall very nice experience for casual dining. have been several times for lunch & dinner and the staff are always super friendly, food is quick and fresh and it is reasonably priced....

Unfortunately, my experience with L’osteria Basel through Uber Eats was absolutely horrible. I ordered 2 identical pasta dishes but received only one, and to make matters worse, the one that arrived was completely different from what I ordered. The smell was unbearable, as if it was spoiled, and it seemed to be made with leftovers from other meals. It was disgusting and inedible.

When I called the restaurant, not only did they not apologize, but they also informed me that I would have to wait 2 days to get my money back. It's evident that they are aware of the despicable quality of what they send to customers, which only increases my frustration and indignation.

I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. The food quality is terrible, the service is disrespectful, and the overall experience was one of the worst I’ve ever had. If I could give zero...
