WOW! I haven't had a great tuna steak in a while and the food on the menu was absolutely awesome! And, the service exceeded the food to make the overall dining experience A+++++!! Do yourself a favor and stop in at Aroma Restaurant and enjoy the service of the Host Mr. Ercan Keser. As a customer he makes you feel as though your his special guest and that he has known you for years! We happened to stop in after searching google for the best restaurants in Basel. So, glad we went.....in fact I was so pleased that I went back the next day for lunch and received the same excellent treatment! We finally found a 5 star restaurant in Basel that blew us away albeit at a cost. It was our last night in the city and we were getting worried we would not find something to stand out but Aroma stepped up and knocked it out of the park for us. The food is properly authentic and absolutely delicious. The guanciale in the carbonara for example was so well prepared that it was crunchy on the first bite and then immediately melts in your mouth with an explosion of porky delight. The Trattoria Aroma is a fantastic gem in Basel. Its located in the heart of base, in a small alley. Don't let you fool by the entrance, as its a small door that does not reflect what you will find inside. Inside, you will find an authentic high class Italian restaurant, with a small yet wonderful menu of hand made fresh dishes.
