This restaurant is an absolute scandal! Firstly, there is not 1 person who works at the restaurant (including the lady who is the manager or owner) who speaks neither fluent English nor fluent French which I have hard time understanding and especially extra complicated if you need specific information about allergens etc. I am gluten intolerant and I went with my son who is celiac. They assured us they can prepare certain plates gluten-free for us! When the food came, before starting to eat, my sixth sense told me to ask to see the bottle of the gluten-free soja sauce they use. I had to ask 5 times, literally, and each time I asked the waiter went and then came back serving something to a table next to us (it was like a hidden camera joke!) The 5th time I asked, I lost patience and i had a firmer tone of voice and they finally brought the bottle AND IT WAS NORMAL SOJA SAUCE, NOT GLUTEN-FREE AT ALL!! This made me furious!!! The waitress said this is what their distributor brings them as gluten free sauce but on the bottle there is no GF sign plus if you read the ingredients, it is written BLÉ (WHEAT in french) in bold letters!!! The manager came and said oh madam okay I got it, next time we will tell people to bring their own GF sauce otherwise we won’t do it! I mean no real sorry, understanding, no feeling bad at all about contaminating a kid with an allergy knowing they will be sick the whole weekend, just an arrogant attitude! I rushed out with frustration and sadness. People who are in food business, when a client requests allergen information and specifies and explains how important it is for them to avoid gluten, you gotta be receptive and respectful and thoughtful and careful! The health of a person should not be so easy to play with! It is YOUR DUTY AND OBLIGATION to know what you are serving! Some may ask gluten-free because it sounds cool but there are people like my son who needs to eat gluten-free not by choice but by real health conditions! Food and service business is complicated and not easy and must be taken seriously, otherwise, everyone would open a restaurant! I think restaurants should be allowed to serve gluten-free or other allergens only if they take a sort of a training by an institution to understand how it should function and should be controlled from...
Read moreThe dim sum has gotten so bad that I feel obligated to write a review. First, many of the dim sum dishes weren’t properly prepared to the point that store-bought, frozen dumplings (of Chinese brands) tasted much better than these. Both dumplings and shumai didn’t have much fresh shrimp or meat in them, and were held together by loads of starch, so it felt like eating shrimp-flavored rubber balls. I believe many of their dim sum were low-quality, factory-made items. There were a few decent items: pork congee/porridge, rice rolls, chicken feet and steamed tofu skin wrap. But steer away from the dumplings!
Second, inattentive and rude service. Food was slow to come, cups missing, water not filled, bill took forever to come, and no apologies when ordered dishes didn’t arrive at all. I have been to this restaurant many times in the past and the food has just gotten worse and worse. Such a shame when it was supposed to be a good “authentic” Chinese...
Read moreI came to the Geneva Business Hotel from afar. I am really not used to their local meals these days, and I still miss Chinese rice dishes. Today, the manufacturer just hosted us to eat at a Chinese restaurant. We were so excited. It is rare to see a Chinese restaurant in downtown Geneva and there is no planned Chinatown. I am really happy to see a Chinese restaurant on the main road. The interior decoration of this Hongxing Chinese restaurant has a strong Chinese flavor, and each dish is served very quickly. Almost every dish is very satisfying, especially the Sudongpo Pork and Peking Roast Duck. I ate a lot and tasted them many times. I never got tired of them. I also had several bowls of rice. I was surprised that I had enjoyed Chinese food in a foreign country. It also reminded me of the feeling of my hometown. It was...
