My business partner and I were guests at Wine and Beef last Monday and were initially received politely. After ordering a water and a beer, we had to ask for the beer as it had been forgotten. No big deal. For starters, we both ordered the tartare as a small portion, followed by the big entrecote, which I accompanied with a glass of wine, Rosso dei Notri. The first thing we got was a very good salad with french fries, which surprised us. We had barely eaten a bite of the salad when two large portions of tartare arrived. We were confused and when we asked, they confirmed that this was correct and the starter as ordered. So we ate it and it was very good. Afterwards we got two portions of meat with fries. The meat was very good, but the fries were very soft. When I ordered a second glass of wine, the waitress brought it to me and said it was Malbec, ok never mind, the wine was good. After two portions of entrecote we were full but it was never 270g as ordered, which was ok after the large portion of tartare. On the bill we then saw that we were charged for two main course of tartare and two medium portion of entrecote, plus the Malbec and other drinks mentioned. I pointed out that we had ordered the tartare as an appetizer and asked again before we started eating. The waitress apologizes and says it was her mistake, it was a misunderstanding. Then she come back with a corrected bill and says that as we have eaten everything, she can only give us a 20% discount on the large portion of tartare instead of the starter price. This is an absolute no go. After six hours in the car, we didn't feel like arguing, so we said that this wasn't ok and settled the bill without a tip. The waitress took the order completely wrong and then they are not responsible for it....
Read moreWas looking for a steakhouse while staying in Geneva and came across this gem. Menu is very small, just a few steak options, tartar or carpaccio for starters, a great wine selection and that's it. This is pretty much the classic steak and frites but done superbly. I had a small BEO steak for a bit more than a normal steak, medium-rare, cooked to perfection and you could cut it with a spoon. The sauce was amazing, not just a typical pepper sauce but more buttery with a bit of curry. Fries were obviously fresh and great with the steak sauce. Kids had the burger and both said they were awesome. Lemon tart, creme brulé, and the cookie sandwich for dessert. Highly recommended and surprisingly not that expensive. Will...
Read moreThe impression the waiters will try to give you in order to get a tip is good although don't ask them too much as they will lost in their rush. Service is slow specially during lunch time, I did wait for 50 minutes to get my small steak with few fries.and the standard sauce I did not quite like. If the waiter spills your drink they will charge you for the new one. The boss may come.to ask if everything is OK but it's just for the image of the restaurant, the service is poor and the food really expensive for what it is. To get a good meat I rather advise you to go 5 minutes walking towards Geneva station before underground entrance of your right Café de Paris Rue Mont Blanc 26 is far much better and price quality is...
