We stumbled upon Brasserie St.Georges in Interlaken, and boy, are we glad we did! We'd originally made reservations at a traditional Swiss place across the street, but honestly, we couldn't face another meal of fondue and potatoes. This place turned out to be exactly what we needed.
Located in one of the nicest hotels in the area, Brasserie St.Georges offers a mix of Italian, French, and Swiss food. The restaurant itself has a great vibe - fancy enough for a nice dinner out, but still comfortable for a family meal.
I went for the burger, and it was spot-on. Thick, juicy, and cooked just right - exactly what I was craving. My wife tried the Chicken Cordon Bleu, which was a hit. Instead of the usual ham, it had beef inside along with the melted cheese, all wrapped up in crispy breading. A nice twist on a classic.
The real winner for us was the kids' menu. Our daughter got the chicken tenders and loved them. It's not always easy to find good options for kids in Interlaken, so this was a big plus.
What really stood out was the service. In a country known for good hospitality, these folks still managed to impress us. They were attentive without being overbearing, and seemed genuinely happy to help.
The hotel that houses the restaurant is pretty impressive too - it's one of those beautiful, historic buildings you see all over Switzerland. It definitely added to the overall experience.
If you're in Interlaken and looking for a break from traditional Swiss fare, or just want a really good meal, Brasserie St.Georges is the place to go. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip, food-wise. We'll definitely be back next time...
Read moreIt was 9:00pm, and most of the shops are closed. We were looking for fondue. A quick search on Google Maps pointed us here at Brasserie St. Georges.
Once seated and with menus on the table, the first question is “still or sparkling?” I hesitated at first because I knew it will cost extra for fancy bottled water. We picked still. The water was delicious.
While waiting for the meal, we got bread, butter, and a small bowl of what seems to be watermelon soup (I’m probably wrong, but that’s how it tasted) that’s all part of the meal. Delicious.
The fondue arrived. Melted pot of cheese, with some bread the size of croutons, pickled onions, tomatoes, and potatoes. Delicious.
And then my main arrived — grilled Interlaken veal with mushrooms on a potato gratin. Delicious. I was very happy with my order. The veal and mushroom were a bit on the salty side, but was perfect with the gratin. The veal was tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare.
The total bill for us three was about CHF140, but the price was worth it.
In case I go back, I’ll definitely have the Interlaken veal again.
Service was also fantastic. The waiter was very nice and actually spoke with a little Filipino that he learned from his...
Read moreThis was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever encountered. Nearly every table in the restaurant had customers expressing dissatisfaction with their meals, which speaks volumes. The quality of the food was far below any acceptable standard, let alone what one would expect from a hotel restaurant.
Our group of five faced issues from the moment we placed our order. The food arrived cold, the rice was overcooked, and the fish was clearly frozen, not fresh. The lamb dish was poorly executed—mushy and more akin to a failed lamb tagine than a proper pan-fried lamb dish. The Cordon Bleu was particularly appalling: dry, lukewarm, and far from the dish it’s supposed to be. It consisted of chicken breast rolled around dry beef and smothered in a cheese sauce, making it inedible.
Despite the restaurant being nearly empty on a Saturday night, with only five tables seated and over 20 empty, service did little to alleviate the situation. Even after voicing our concerns about the cold food, no compensation or effort was made to address the issues.
I would strongly advise against dining here until the kitchen staff and menu undergo a complete overhaul. CHF 322.00 without alcohol was a...
