So I don’t know how to start this review. I shouldn’t be upset at the food prices considering it was posted on the menu and outside of the place before I walked in. So I guess let me start off with my initial experience.
We walked upstairs to the restaurant and it had very lunchroom feel so I’m hoping the food would be amazing here. I didn’t expect fine dining but I figured for a 25-35 chf per dish considering the lack of ambiance, I’m hoping it’s was really good food. We are a family of 4 (2 young kids) from New York. So we know what Chinese food is. What I wasn’t aware was sodas was 5.80 each. Then we asked for water because the food very salty and we tried asking for tap but they played it out like they only served bottled flat or sparkling. Each bottle was another 5.80 each and we had 2. Just the 4 sodas and 2 water cost us about 35chf. Which I was a bit flabbergasted. We had 1 dish fried rice, 1 dish of chicken noodle, 1 beef and broccoli and a shrimp dish. Our total bill came out to be more than 170 chf for lunch.
The whole time we were there, there was mad rushes of big tour groups. There was at least 3-4 large groups when we were there. Honestly for what we paid, the atmosphere, and it being on the 2nd floor of a building, it shouldn’t have been that costly. It’s like sitting in big lunchroom eating with working people who was rushing to eat and go. It didn’t feel like a dining restaurant to be charging that much for food. We should have gone to the other place we originally wanted to go.
This review is not about the quality of food. Although it was a bit on the salty side. The dishes were comparably on the smaller side, drinks was very expensive, the ambience was merely just a big lunchroom. Not...
Read moreBeware and stay away. Right from the beginning the experience was unpleasant. The boss was unfriendly with arrogant attitude and vibes. The beef hor fun was oily and overpriced, the portions were small . 1 bowl of seaweed soup costs 8chf. ( see picture ) Worst of all, the boss wrote himself a tip at tip column but I still paid and didn’t kick up a fuss because I was with my young child and guests who are visiting Switzerland for the first time. He is very dishonest because tipping is not compulsory but we do tip generally for good service. For such experience he doesn’t deserve the tips. I wonder how this restaurant has been getting away for such dishonesty for so long perhaps prying on unknowing tourists. I won’t recommend this place nor come back ever.
Update : The 8 CHF was NOT for an additional bottle of water. We only ordered 1 bottle and asked where it was when it did not arrive. The owner was at our table when he handed me the bill. There was clearly ONLY 1 bottle visible at the table. If I really had ordered 2 bottles why is it hand written at the bottom of our bill where the tip column is and not entered into your...
Read moreWas on the way to a nearby Thai restaurant that’s rated 4.7 on Google and passed by Asia Food Town. Really regret eating here. It’s rated low on Google for good reasons.
The vegetables were just cooked for the sake of cooking. It only tasted like oil and nothing else.
The beef noodle texture was very odd.
The char siew rice takeaway was so awful that I couldn’t bite into a single piece of the pork meat. The rice was evidently very stale. And the vegetables were unpalatable too. I had to throw the whole box into the bin after 2 bites.
There was a table of Vietnamese tourists next to us who clearly asked for tap water but the male server acknowledged then sneakily brought a bottle of still water, hoping to trick the tourists into paying more. Luckily the Vietnamese tourists were alert enough to further insist on tap water. Clear illustration of lack of business integrity.
Please stay away from...
