Loved everything about this dinner! Went for my wife's birthday and everything was perfect - the food, the service, the view, the ambiance - it was all spectacular and they made us feel so welcome. Chef Huber's food was so delicious, though the word that keeps coming to mind is "interesting." He uses lots of local ingredients, vegetables, and techniques I've not experienced. The carrot dish was so intriguing and I've been debating with myself as to whether or not it was the star of the show, which is not something I thought I'd ever say. It was dehydrated and then rehydrated in more carrot juice which made for excellent texture and taste, and it was accompanied by several creamy sauces to prop it up even further. The salmon trout and beef dishes also blew us away, both of which had some much going on that I just don't even really know how to write about them without messing it up - just go and you'll know I mean! We thought it couldn't get better, but then my wife's favorite dish came out, which was the desert. Particularly, she loved the sorbet in it, which looked humble but was by no means subtle, as it was packed with raspberry deliciousness way beyond what we expected. All in all, this was the dinner of the year for us, though it's making it difficult to remember a better meal throughout the years. Thank you so much to chef Huber and his team! We are so grateful you shared your food/experience with us. Our only regret is that we did not tip more, because they deserve it and we're left with a feeling of wanting them to feel appreciated - it's that kind of place! Hurry as fast you can to...
Read moreTL;DR: Michelin star restaurant with 4 - 6 courses. Decent food, but exemplary service and atmosphere.
Lucide Restaurant in Lucerne is an upscale restaurant located in the museum right next to the train station. The restaurant offers a multiple course meal that ranges from 4 - 6 courses and is a Michelin starred restaurant. The restaurant seems to offer an A la carte menu but that was not available to us.
The food itself was alright. Some dishes truly stood out and really had that explosion of flavour, while others were simply mediocre. I appreciated the explanation of each dish as well.
However, the restaurant deserves high praise for their extremely hospitable service that does their best to cater to your needs. They performed many small gestures throughout our meal that makes their service one of the best I have ever experienced. Some of these gestures include the fact that they offered to relocate us to a nicer table with a view once the restaurant cleared up. (We were a walk in and did not reserve). They gave us some snacks for the road as they knew we were going on a trip right after.
Additionally, the restaurant is very well designed. The lighting has been evidently planned very well and is very pleasant to the eye. Additionally, there are small dividers between each table that give off a sort of coziness and privacy that I...
Read moreThe food is really good, creative and well cooked. The wine list is deep and varied.
The main issue is with the service. Our check arrived with a hand written note saying “tip is not included 😀” It felt like we were taken advantage of specifically because we were Americans. On this trip, we have eaten at multiple Michelin rated and local restaurants across Switzerland without once being asked for a tip. When we travel, we like to respect the local custom. We have had great service and left tips where appropriate. There were two tables of Europeans on either side of us and none of them were asked specifically to tip. If you are a tourist speaking English and want to be targeted for a tip, go to Lucide. This type of service is not commensurate with one Michelin star restaurant or a restaurant with 16...
