Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to inform you about a recent disappointing experience at the Wirtshaus Taube restaurant in Lucerne. On Sunday 1st of June we came to your restaurant after reading positive reviews on Google maps and reviewing the menu online. However, when we arrived we were dismissed by the waitress who despite being pleasant to a couple who arrived just before us told us in a very curt manner âthereâs no seats inside you can sit here but youâre going to get wetâ and walked away. We were a bit shocked at this and while we were contemplating what to do another waiter came to greet us and was actually quite nice and said that there is actually tables inside and we could move there if it started raining. However when we came inside the waitress was there ready to confront us and was obviously angry that her colleague has let us in and said we have to sit at the bar. We felt very unwelcome and so left at that point. After reading more reviews online it seems this is not the first time this waitress has treated people like this. Concerningly other reports suspected this was due to their race (despite the waitress herself being asian) and that also fitâs with our experience where the couple before us were white and treated very nicely but we were discouraged from staying at every opportunity by this waitress. I hope you are able to...
Read moreThe Egg with Roasti(potato eggs and bacon and cheese.) meal was great option for brunch and severe for lunch/brunch was Paulo very nice older man and experienced servee. Came twice once for dinner Thursday and once for brunch on Friday. Friday better than Thursday, weekends have full lunch and dinner menus. Open at 11am. Thursday had just a dinner menu limited options due to busier weekends. Swiss food is classis and fulling we got the Lamb stew great for chilly days and the fancier version of Macaroni and cheese. (Plate was really hot like if put in microwave my friend burned themselves.) That day the older women serving us was impatient. I didn't realize at first but my friend that knows Spanish could hear she was talking Portuguese to the table in front of us and they could hear her complaining with clearly annoyed face and saying "I don't have patience for this people!." What we do? Ordered and asked some questions about meals and we didn't mention the hot plate issue since was previously advised, and we clearly speaked American English, my friend guessed that was reason for her impatient behavior (unsure but name tag was Paula. But didn't confirm clearly elderly women there.)
So food was 4 stars but rude service was 2 stars, hence three...
Read moreContemplated between this restaurant and another before coming in here, again - for dinner after being turned away when we went for lunch.
â° do note that itâs better to make reservations prior to going, it was full house by 7pm on a Friday night. Also note that they are closed at 2pm and reopens at 6pm - suggests that the management updates their operating hours based on this since itâs not reflected.
đ„ rosti wasnât to our liking, but I imagine anyone who likes cheesy stuff would love it
đ the pork schnitzel was good, a giant serving as stated was served, and it was a feat to actually finish it - fries were quite salty in our opinion though
đ„§ the cheese pie was the star of the show, we only got it because we thought the photo looked good on the menu - but it turned out to be properly flavourful! The pie had a great crust and texture, coupled with the cheese which was thick and heavy, itâs a superb combination.
The service was great too, with the server asking if we needed any condiments to go with our food upon serving, also checking in regularly if the food tasted good, and if we needed extra food or drinks đđ»
Definitely would recommend this restaurant to anyone in Lucerne looking for...
