Restaurant Spycher — Restaurant in Zermatt

Lovely and cozy dinner spot located in Hotel Aristella! I was recommended to Spycher by a good friend and it was right across the road from where I was staying, so walkable and very convenient.

Entrance is through the front lobby, there’s an indoor and outdoor seating area. I opted for alfresco since it was a lovely evening.

I ordered the Hibiscus Tonic and Grilled Duck Breast with Honey Sauce and a side of rösti and boiled vegetables. The duck was well cooked, tender and juicy. The Rösti was crispy on the outside with a nice texture on the inside. One of the better ones I’ve had! Had a complimentary amuse bouche and a lovely finale of chocolate and cookies.

I believe people come here mainly for the show as they can also cook at your table.

The wait staff is very friendly and fast. The atmosphere is like being in an old chalet with corresponding decor.

The food was good - we also received an amuse-bouche.

It is definitely very very very loud - if you are looking for a quiet evening don’t come here. Also if you have children that will be running around, think twice as there are open flames around.

This restaurant greatly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we were treated so well. The owner/chef? (Perhaps, not completely sure) even took our order while we were waiting at the bar (which we gladly ordered a bottle of wine-since we arrived early) so we would be able to eat shortly after being seated. The food was AMAZING! We shared the goat cheese starter (which was the best I’ve EVER had) as well as the chateaubriand flambé. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly.
