•If you're looking for a delightful Portuguese family restaurant with a good fondue, look no further. This charming eatery offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere perfect for couples and families. The fondue is a standout, expertly crafted with rich flavors and high-quality ingredients that make each bite a memorable experience. Their attention to detail and commitment to authenticity truly shine through, making it a must-visit spot for anyone craving delicious, comforting food in a friendly setting.
•The location is good, on the main street in the village, near other restaurants, hotels, and stores. The restaurant is cozy and not very large (which is a bit annoying, as the tables are very close to each other), so it tends to get quite busy. It's highly recommended to make a reservation in advance to ensure you have a spot, especially during peak hours. This way, you can fully enjoy their delicious food and the warm atmosphere without any wait.
•We chose the cheese fondue (CHF 27) with the Raclette cheese (CHF 9), both highly recommended, like I said above. [Prices of June/24]
•We enjoyed the experience and would return if we had more time in Zermatt. The delicious fondue and the inviting atmosphere made it a nice visit.

Read moreI'm not sure where to go with this review to be fair. The atmosphere and service were fantastic. I went there to enjoy the fondue, but the fondue had an overwhelming presence of wine. While the menu states that there is wine in it, it tasted like I was drinking wine. This is where the "fair" part comes in. Knowing nothing about fondue in Switzerland, I have no idea if this is typical. My intolerance to alcohol is what turned me off the dish. Either way, I did not enjoy the fondue at all.
It's not the fault of the restaurant, as they did say that there is wine in the dish. But as I said, I just did not expect so much wine that it overpowered it. As soon as I tasted it, it screamed white wine.
I did learn later that we could have asked for no wine to be in the dish, I just don't know what that would have done to it. It may just be a simple case that Swiss fondue is not for me. So take my review with a grain of salt.
To the restaurants credit, another in our party had the bratwurst, while another had the Wurst und Käse salad which I tried (both) and found them very tasty.
As with many restaurants in Zermatt, it's always a good idea to get a reservation ahead of time...
Read moreI arrived at 634 for a 630 reservation, yes I get that is slightly late (I got lost on the way), but not super out of line.
When I arrived the hostess told me they gave away my table and that I needed to go. She said that this policy was stated in the confirmation email, but I just reread it and it said nothing about giving away your table in less than 5 minutes.
She mysteriously had a table available though for the couple that arrived right behind me for their 630 reservation.
I left in a huff but decided to be difficult and go back.. and mysteriously they had a table for me when I stood up for myself.
And I’m probably reading too much into it but I noticed the waitress gave bread to every other table but me lol. Probably not personal but that’s how I read it lol.
EDIT: Upon digging through the reviews more thoroughly it seems as though this is a common problem. And if you want a laugh see how rude the restaurant is to people who give them bad reviews lol — calling customers rude, saying it was a bad experience to serve them, cheeky emojis. Very mature of them lol. I’m curious to see how they choose to roast me for daring to...
