Maki Haus — Restaurant in Zurich

Didn't want to serve desert at 21:55 despite the restaurant closing at 23:00.

Edit to address reply: We chose this restaurant because it closed late so we figured we'd have a relaxed dinner without time pressure.

Indeed, we arrived at 20:30 but the rest of the reply is factually incorrect. My friend was reasonably hungry, so she had a ramen. I wasn't too hungry, so I had a small miso soup and wanted to keep some space to have daifuku for dessert. We didn't have tap water, we had 3 Coke Zero between the 2 of us.

At 21:50 the waiter asked if she can bring us the check, which is a bit rude but whatever. I asked for the dessert menu, to which she replied that the kitchen is closed. I asked to confirm that the restaurant closing time is 23:00 and she said that is correct, but the kitchen is already closed. I find it completely unacceptable that she did not ask us if we want dessert before the kitchen closed. I complained to the chef at 21:58 and he said that the kitchen closes at 22:00, so technically the kitchen wasn't even closed!

Pure incompetence in service. Go somewhere else, there are other restaurant...

The Maki Haus in Zurich is one of those hidden gems, when it comes to Japanese food. My best friend and I went there in the evening, around 6 o'clock. The atmosphere of this place is very calm and quiet even though the location is in the heart of the city (a 3 minute walk from the Tram-station Central). My friend visited this place before and recommended the Tonkotsu Ramen to me and we ate some Karaage with it. And what can I say? It was absolutely delicious! The food wasn’t bad, but for the amount I paid the food should have been of higher quality. For example, I had the Tantanmen Ramen (Vegi) and though it was supposed to be spicy I could barely taste any spiciness. Additionally, and more importantly, the broth itself was quite watery and didn’t have too much flavor to it.
