Tripodking Spicy Hotpot – A Must-Try in Ximending Taipei
If you're visiting Taipei and looking for an unforgettable hotpot experience, Tripodking Spicy Hotpot (鼎王麻辣鍋) in Ximending is a top choice. This renowned hotpot restaurant is famous for its rich, aromatic broths and high-quality ingredients, making every bite flavorful—even without dipping sauces!
Two Signature Broths: Spicy & Pickled Cabbage Pork
Tripodking offers two exceptional broths:
Spicy Mala Broth (麻辣鍋) – Infused with Sichuan peppercorns and a variety of spices, this broth has a deep, numbing heat and a fragrant, layered taste. The signature duck blood and tofu soak up the flavors, making them irresistibly delicious.
Pickled Cabbage Pork Broth (酸菜白肉鍋) – A perfect contrast to the spicy option, this broth is made with fermented cabbage, creating a tangy and savory base that pairs wonderfully with thinly sliced pork belly.
No Sauce Needed – Pure Flavor in Every Bite
At Tripodking, the secret lies in the broth itself. The rich flavors seep into the ingredients, so whether you're enjoying fresh meat, vegetables, or handmade dumplings, each bite is already perfectly seasoned. There's no need for extra sauces—just enjoy the natural, well-balanced taste!
Always Full of Fresh Ingredients
One of the best things about Tripodking is that the staff constantly refill the broths, ensuring that your hotpot stays warm and flavorful. Plus, the restaurant provides generous portions of high-quality meats, keeping your pot full of delicious ingredients at all times.

With its signature broths, premium ingredients, and exceptional service, Tripodking Spicy Hotpot is a must-visit for hotpot lovers. Whether you're a fan of bold, spicy flavors or prefer a comforting, tangy broth, this restaurant delivers an authentic and satisfying dining experience in the heart of Taipei's Ximending district.

Read moreWent to try this hotpot given that I’m quite the mala fan and this is a long standing chain in Taiwan. Service was good and the shop atmosphere was very decent.
They only have 2 options for their soup base which is spicy mala and “sauerkraut” vegetables flavour. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad but maybe I was expecting quite a lot from this brand name the mala didn’t really rock my world. It wasn’t as fragrant as it looked and felt maybe slightly below good. The sauerkraut veggies was something different for a hotpot soup base to me, overall a great dining experience and the food were all nice and fresh.
Because they only have 2 soup bases which are both very strong flavours, you should be ready for it and not that the flavours are not children friendly. They charge the soup base by the number of pax not by the pot and there is free flow of rice and their simple sauces.
If you are in the area you can try it though it is hard to get a table, the people were flowing...
Read moreIt was a heavy rain icy night when we in ximending. We walk in to tripid king and it’s full. Nevertheless the reception staff tried to arrange and managed to seat us ( big group) in 45mins.
This time we still order hotpot with twin flavors Personally prefer spicy hotpot here, and refill was using mala soup instead of white broth hence the soup remain tasty and spicy. Also duck blood is thick and delicious. The tofu is kind of “old tofu” thus suggest to leave in the soup for longer time till it absorb the mala soup well.
One thing perplexing is the table service was like rushing and lack of passion during entire dining until we finish and about to leave the service shows super friendly and nice.
Tripod king is under same f&b group with Wulaoguo. Hence we found a striking similarities on their servicing protocol, interior design, promotions, food selections,...
