i love the chicken rice here more than anything. the fried shallots are so good, and it manages to be sufficiently moist with chicken fat without being too greasy and cloying. it’s just really nicely balanced, and everyone who goes here should get a big bowl of it with some of the delicious oily 酸菜 that’s self-serve. i also like that you have the option of getting the healthier vegetables instead of just the (admittedly tasty) ones drowning in pork fat. the braised napa cabbage is a must get, too.
the 滷肉飯 is okay, but when you order the large portion it feels like they just add more rice and no extra meat sauce so it’s just poorly balanced. the noodle soups are decent, too, but the chicken mushroom one has some annoying bone shards to deal with, and the bitter gourd in the pork one is pretty weak (if someone orders bitter gourd it’s because they want to taste it!).

Overall it’s a 9.5 out of 10!
