Baan Khun Nine Kitchen — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Unfortunately, my experience at Baan Khun Nine Kitchen can best be described as bland and disappointing. I discovered this restaurant as it was listed on the Michelin Guide for Chiang Mai and decided to give it a try. The owner recommended “Fried river shrimp with garlic” and steamed rice, which I ordered.

From the first bite, I instantly regretted my choice to dine here. The food was severely lacking in flavor, and even the addition of chilis, provided in an attempt to spice up the dish, did little to remedy the situation. The overall culinary experience was unremarkable and unfulfilling.

Additionally, the toilets were subpar. After my meal, I discovered that the restroom lacked soap, and another didn’t even have a sink.

I regret to say that I won’t be revisiting Baan Khun Nine Kitchen and would advise others to consider alternative...

I can't recommend this place enough...for a Michelin rated establishment,the vibe was decidedly relaxed and unstuffy... the decor is a tad ostentatious but the proprietor was anything but.. down to earth and even came to our table to take the orders himself-recommended the chef recommended dishes and even asked us to not over order. Also the prices were v reasonable and the portions substantial.... we all loved it.,, the dish cakes were fabulous... signature crab curry w giant crabs from Surat Thani came highly recommended for good reason-meaty,sweet and went v well the sauce... we also ordered the fresh water prawns in a garlicky sauce....our least fav dish but this is nitpicking...for sure will come back the next x in Chiangmai... love love love this place-Michelin inspector hit the nail on its...

Stumbled across this place as I tried to find a better food experience for us. Best meal we had in Chiang Mai after one too many cheap eats that were terrible. You get what you pay for and this is 100% the case. Family sharing style so best to come with a group (we were 5) to get a wider tasting selection. Must order: Lemongrass chili sea bass steamed fish, Tom yum soup (my fave), morning glory veg, and garlic river prawns. Highly recommend to order a bucket of rice to share as well!! Everything was bursting with flavours and just so SO delicious. Don’t let the tacky decoration fool you! The owner is super helpful, so take his recommendations if...
