I have two recent negative experiences with this restaurant, and I doubt I will try them again.
In the past, I have enjoyed their pork chop which comes with grilled vegetables. Last week I went to the restaurant, which was completely empty except for me. I ordered, and after approximately 15 minutes the waitress approached and told me it would be another 30 minutes before my order could arrive. When I asked what else I could order from the kitchen instead that would take less time, I was told everything would take at least 30 more minutes. Because I was on my lunch break, I chose to leave. It bears noting that when I entered the restaurant the cook was sitting at a table chatting with a friend and entered the kitchen to prepare my order. So it’s not as if the kitchen was particularly busy.
Tonight I used the grab app to order the same dish. The photo on the grab app is the same photo as on the menu at the restaurant, and shows the pork chop and the grilled vegetables, including corn, broccoli, carrots, and other available vegetables. But when the food arrived, all there was was the pork chop and a few miserable pieces of lettuce.
When I order from grab, I expect to receive what I see on the accompanying photo and what I would receive if I were at the restaurant. The restaurants decision to provide something different is a black mark in my book.
Post-Review amendment: I later returned to Café de Siam because I do like their pork chop dish. And this time everything was fine. The manager approached me and greeted me by name, although we had never met. He had, however, read this review and apologized for my bad experience previously. He told me that he took such reviews seriously as an opportunity to improve. This is responsible Customerservice, and I applaud the manager for taking note of my review, remembering me, and making sure that I had a positive...
Read moreI ordered a hot Americano coffee and pineapple pancakes. Pros: The coffee was tasty enough. I was satisfied. The cafe's atmosphere and decor are very good. I sat outside at a nice black metal table with a glass table top. The interior of the cafe had a very local feel (nice!).
Cons: The portion size of 3 pancakes was small. And serving of fruits on the plate was pitiful. It consisted of one small cube of white dragon fruit, another small piece of fruit and a piece of banana which was no more than 1 inch or 2.5 cm. Bananas are a cheap fruit, so the cafe should have been more generous at least with the banana. However, the pancakes did taste good.
Conclusion: If you are a big eater, don't eat breakfast at the Cafe de Siam. But, if you are on a diet or prefer smaller portions, this restaurant...
Read moreHorrible service, the waitress threw the menu on the table (not a good start) I requested my ice coffee to be served in a paper cup, as I have cancer and can not touch plastic or glass due to my treatment. The useless waitress could not be bothered with my request, she said no have paper cup....seriously, a coffee shop does not have takeaway paper cup! we went to 12 other coffee shops on our stay and all did what I requested, accept this one! Language barrier is not an excuse either, my thai GF explained in thai what I wanted.
We left without ordering due to bad staff and service. Looking at all the other bad reviews about the poor service and staff, I suggest you make changes or your business will be broke quickly.
Lots of coffee places around, don't go...
