Tldr: Went for breakfast Food mostly good Coffee weak Service lacking Foreigners frowned upon and made unwelcome, yet clearly the intended market. Staff miserable. You have to get the menu then go order at the bar.
Some of the least friendly/happy staff I have encountered. It seemed that the treatment for locals and foreigners is different, as locals were welcomed a bit more warmly when we saw/heard them enter. That is fine, if your cafe isn't so clearly tailored for attracting foreigners.
We had to fetch our own menus, which is fine, but there was no indication to this except the utter lack of welcome and stares we received upon entry, and the menus being sat directly under the nose of one of three staff members who just stared at us as we worked out what the seating and menu situation was. Once you decide, you have to go order at the bar.
The flat white would have been nice, except there was either only a single shot of espresso (therefore, not a flat white), or too much milk. If the coffee itself would have been more plentiful, it would have been a great flat white. If you like a milkier, more easy going coffee, this is for you.
The dippy eggs were, to my thoughts, undercooked. However, we had not tried dippy eggs in Thailand yet, and that may simply be how they are made in Thailand, so we did not feel it appropriate to say anything, and they were still edible, and the bread was nice.
The pancakes with bacon and fried egg were delicious.
The decor in here is brilliant, but it feels soulless and disingenuous when the staff treat you as unwelcome and unwanted.
The cost is very high for the treatment. There are plenty of cafes within a ten minute walk which charge similar, or less, and offer the friendly service that you expect for the...
Read moreOmbra is a very good place either for chilling out or to have some work done (very recommended for digital nomads). The decor is nice and the staff is welcoming. Drinks and food are reasonably priced (you can find a good latte for 45 THB). Also, they provide free iced water for customers and, sometimes, offer some free portions of sticky rice and custard (so good!).
Wifi connection is reliable, the space has lots of plugs, and the furniture is comfortable. A/C is strong, sometimes a bit cold, but you can always take a break in their outside tables. The cafe area and the restrooms are always clean.
Good place to come back...
Read moreOther reviewers were right! This is a great space for getting work done. The temperature is cool, and doesn’t have the AC cranked like some cafes. Great, quiet atmosphere, nice deco, and more spacious than it looks on the photos.
Some people are chatting quietly, some people are working, and the baristas are relaxed and not overly friendly.
I enjoyed my coffee and croissant, and it looks like they might have other light food options. 50-80 general range for drinks, and the pastries I saw are under 50.
Location’s a little hard to find if you’re not staring at your phone, but it’s ALL the way at the end...
