Always a good night out. Mainly retro live music and up to 4 bands a night playing. Open again now and more or less the same but no Buffalo Bob!! We want Buffalo Bob!!! Post Covid now more or less back to normal, always busy. The music is still retro which suits the venue, one of the regular bands has a singer called Gina who has real personality but I really miss Buffalo Bob, the eccentric guitarist with his early evening set. Much missed. Waiting for a comeback!! Always a good night out and prices are reasonable. Update . . . Same same, no change. Really good place, good night out and reasonable prices. Still retro but the later the evening is the music gets newer, having rap singers doesn't really add to the vibe. Update Still visiting Country Road and it remains a great night out. So sad to see the legend Gina has left after 12 years. She will be sadly missed, good singer and personality. I hope she returns soon. This venue is worth a visit and the prices challenge all tte other bars in Soi Cowboy. Bring back Gina!!!!
It is with great regret that I have to update my Country Road II review. I visited again in late August 2025 and I was very sad to see how the place has further declined. Very few customers at 10pm, poor quality bands with very little enthusiasm. Pre covid this was the best music venue on Soi Cowboy but now has just gone downhill. The Penny Black Bar, opposite is always full and even the Five Star bar next door with its hapless, tone deaf farang singers are pulling in more customers. Country Road II was always the best place for live music and with no girly hassle but it seems like, without much rethinking, its the end after five decades. I hope not but it is clearly running at a loss even with the cheapest drinks on Soi Cowboy. I am sorry as I have patronised place for many years and I really hope the place can be rejuvenated before it is too late. I will say it again, Country Road II has never been the same since Buffalo Bob and Gina left or were removed. Yes, times change but levels of quality...
Read moreLike many bars in Bangkok this bar is suffering from a downturn in patron numbers which is effecting the once really good atmosphere. Frequently now, the bar can be at about half of its capacity and just isn't quite what it used to be. The same however could be said of many such places now in Thailand.
On the upside, there is live music every day, starting at 6pm and continuing on until 3am. Different bands will do about a two hour set and then change.
Draught beer is available but only Singha and Heineken. Best value is a 1 litre pitcher which is 200 baht before 9pm and 300 baht after 9pm (happy hour) price promotions apply to all drinks during this time.
The toilets are quite 'unusual' with ladies and gents at opposite sides of the bar but with a connecting hallway between. So you can look from one to the other. A bit disconcerting for first time users but doesn't bother those accustomed to this quirky layout. There is an attendant present so they are always kept clean and and are not the nightmare experience so many wash rooms in Thailand can be.
This is one of the few bars which now enforces the no smoking policy. The law in Thailand since 2008 but one which is most frequently ignored. Smokers must go outside to light up. So for non smokers this is definately a good place to visit for a drink and music minus the smoke filled atmosphere.
There are a number of pool tables available which get quite a lot of use.
Country Road is something of an icon bar, located on Soi Cowboy between Sukhumvit Soi 21and 23 in the Adoke area it is the first bar on the left side as you enter Soi Cowboy. Worth a visit if you are...
Read moreHave been comining to Country Road bar way back from...2013. Since I was staying in a condo at Las Collinas..just a few blocks away... Country Road became a 2nd home, to me...the bands were great, ambience amazing...however the cherry on the cake was the owner...a gentle elderly lady and we hit it off from the moment we started dancing together. She became my mother and sometimes smothered me with so much love.... There were days when I wud leave pretty high...Mamasans motherly instincts wud kick in, she would sit me outside the food carts and feed me noodles n soup at her cost...n then have someone drop me off to my condo...this wud happen at least twice a week. 2023...I'm back in BKK...bought a lot of gifts n aching to meet my 2nd Mom....thought I wud give her a surprise.. but alas she passed during the covid period... I cried my heart out...Why God...why do you take all the good ones first.??? Today Mamasan's no more but she lives in my heart. I visit Country Road everytime I'm in Sukumvit...out of respect and love. Thankful for all the memories that we shared together as Mother n Son. Farewell Mamma, till we meet again...u will always be a legend in my eyes. For those who haven't experienced Country Road...check it out its one of the nicest bars in Thailand...and Mamasan's...
