Best Japanese restaurant in Bangkok, factoring in value (cheap relative to quality), taste (authentic Japanese cuisine) and atmosphere (quiet, private room, nice entrance/layout/decor, and nice staff). It's quite rare to find those with good value and atmosphere as they tend to have a negative correlation, but this is the only exception that I have come across after visiting 20+ top-tier restaurants in Bangkok. The quality of the beef is AMAZING!!!! I've been to some really nice shabu shabu restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto and I have to say Katana is more authenic! The service is absolutely top notch. Once I stepped in, I instanly felt like I've been teleported to Japan with the atmosphere, all the beautiful decorations and tablewear of the restaurant. What an amazing course in a fantastic environment with a bit of secretive luxury feeling. from snow crab and green laver cream to black sesame gelato with milk pudding a treat of flavors along the various dishes I really savoured. The foie gras and truffle chawan-mushi, or premium Sendai beef shabu shabu were all very tasty.
