LOKAL - Thai Savory Bites — Restaurant in Khlong Toei Nuea Subdistrict

Service was the best. Food were great. Dessert was a little too sweet. Overall it's a bit pricey but I think it's worth the price and will definitely come back if I have a chance. I arrived at 4 pm. And no one was there, no customer and also no staff. So I waited a moment then someone came to greet me and brought me to the table. She was really helpful, she could recommend the menu and often checked if I need anything else. The bread to start off was great. It's hot and crispy on the outside, while soft on the inside. I ordered pasta with Garlic, Thai fresh chili and scallops. This was really great and Thai tasted like. The smell was great too. The 2nd dish was Stir-fried grilled squid with thick bacon and bell pepper. The taste was quite bland. I need to add some seasonings to match my taste. The bacon was thick and I liked it. Then I ended my meal with the dessert, Chocolate meringue. The meringue was great but overall it's a bit too sweet. The location was quite far from BTS, but I can walk there...

Chic decor with nice vibes. Staff was welcoming and the service was attentive.

We ordered a la carte to share. Bread was soft and warm. Nicose salad was beautifully plated and it was good. I didn’t eat the escargots but tried the sauce and it was alright.

The meal highlight was the onion soup. Sweet yet savory. It arrived piping hot and delicious. The beef tongue sauce was alright. Both risotto was cooked very well but taste wise nothing spectacular. Rack of lamb was cooked well but sadly not tender. It was too chewy. I wouldn’t recommend it.

To end the meal desserts were disappointing. Beautifully plated but taste wise not pleasing. They were basically profiteroles filled with vanilla ice-cream drenched in chocolate sauce. The crepe Suzette was not good. It was drowning in some strange tasting orange sauce.

Service and decor was great. Given all the positive reviews I had expectations. Food was decent but probably not...

Very disappointed!! My food was good but the service was unacceptable! Especially for the price! 360 baht for 2 prawns!? A bit unreasonable and not priced on the menu. I ordered it as an add on my pasta it would of been courteous to give notice. Also, they kept pouring water which I was thinking was complimentary because they never made mention to us being charged and they were pouring it soooo freely! Like it was unlimited free water!! Glass wouldn't even be half empty and they kept adding more! Lastly we asked MULTIPLE times for the bills to be separate (group of 8) which made it very frustrating to divi up and added on extra "taxes" on drinks just unethical and bad business practices! VERY DISAPPOINTING AND DISHEARTENING! Stay away if you don't like being swindled!
